The New Jersey State Police is an organization rich in history and tradition. Formed in 1921, the "outfit" has grown from a rural police force into one of the most diversified state agencies in the country. Sadly, this success did not come without a price; over thirty-five troopers gave their lives serving the citizens of the Garden State during the organization's formative years, from 1921 to 1960. This study examines the phenomenon of peasant resistance in westernMaharashtra with special reference to the years 1875-1947. It investigates thetranformation of agrarian society in this region through a sociological analysisof specific cases of peasant resistance.

This volume of The Dark Corners is not unlike the previous three. As with the others, you will find information here not found anywhere else. This volume is slightly different though, with much attention given to what I consider leftovers and loose ends. I have also addressed some additional aspects of the Lindbergh kidnapping in which many have expressed interest. This includes a chapter on the “spy” Jacob Nosovitsky and one on Violet Sharp, a topic that I have avoided—until now.
