It is God’s will for us to be prosperous. Everyone has financial fears, and some of us have faith. Faith and fear cannot reside in the same body. God guarantees our prosperity and says in Philippians 4:19, “God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Yes, he will do his part as long as we do ours by following God’s laws of prosperity from faith to stewardship. Many of us make financial decisions based on fear of the future instead of trusting that God will provide for them. Although we are challenged daily with doubts and concerns for our financial future, we must never doubt that God is in complete control. The author has realized that learning God’s biblical prosperity principles and practicing them actually makes us better Christians. We are poor only because we do not ask God for our prosperity and we do not ask for it according to his way. Gratitude and prayer are inseparable, as well as our self-talk and prayer. Lean production, which has radically benefited traditional manufacturing, can greatly improve the software industry with similar methods and results. The software industry follows the same industrial concepts of production as those applied in manufacturing; however, the software industry perceives itself as being fundamentally different and has largely ignored what other industries have gained through the application of lean techniques.

In the spring of 1968, I was putting the finishing touches on my dissertation at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. On the very day that I planned to accept a position at a university in Ohio, I received a call from one Lu Garvin, who said he was the Provost of Macalester College which was located in St. Paul, Minnesota. Dr. Garvin was in Lansing, and asked if I would be interested in driving up from Ann Arbor for an interview on that day or the following day. I had never heard of Macalester College, but having grown up in South Dakota, I had always thought that the Twin Cities would be a wonderful place to live. Hence I decided to go for the interview. I called the university in Ohio, and they gave me another week to make my decision.
