Legal Aspects Of International Joint Ventures In Agriculture

This publication provides the text of general conventions, declarations, resolutions and decisions adopted by international organizations, international non-governmental organizations and international and arbitral tribunals on international rivers, lakes, relevant basins and underground aquifers. It provides easy access to a vast body of sources of international water law.

The rapid progress of modern biotechnology has given rise to new legislative needs in order to safeguard human health and the environment while at the same time taking advantage of the opportunities offered by biotechnology. Recent years have seen important new legislation being adopted and older law amended in order to respond to the new challenges. The purpose of this study is to indicate the extent to which international agreements and a small selected group of national laws may already be assisting societies to realize modern biotechnology's potential and avoid its possible risks.

Recent years have witnessed a significant acceleration in the revision of forest laws around the world. Forest law increasingly recognizes the multiple interests involved in or affected by forest management, with greater attention given to the environmental and social roles of forest resources and to their sustainable management and use. In addition, renewed emphasis is being placed on the involvement of a wider range of public and private actors. Issues in which forest laws have been reoriented include local forest and private management, the environmental functions of forests, forest management planning and forest utilization contracts.

This study examines fisheries control issues at the national, regional and subregional level. It consists of two major international agreements: the FAO Compliance Agreement and the UN Fish Stocks Agreement. The study analyses and compares national legal systems and their governance of fisheries control. Existing and proposed regional and subregional agreements are identified, analysed and compared.
