Lessons Learned Wearing Armour

An LDS perspective on wearing the whole armor of God gained from 30 years of medieval re-enactment combat by the Author, Stories of medieval battle re-enactments and their spiritual lessons.

After the death of Larret Hamlets Reeve, her father, the mage Tripper turns in the reports and bonds for Laret fief to Lord Ramson. Following this the Black Swans form to deal with local threats, beginning the investigations into Tearmain. With no stone unturned, G, Tripper, Winey, Mi, Jess and Eren seek out Lord Ramson to report grizzly incidents discovered around Larret Hamlet. Traveling west to the river, to reach Mount Oryn, the Black Swans discover a Tearmain army. Redemption by G, leads to her becoming known and praised for her ability and efforts as a strong leader and reliable person. Then in a confrontation, a Black Swan is captured, and is sacrificed. And in dealing with General Isela, this leads to a darker being. Leading the Black Swans to having choices to make: Remain loyal to the Dominnion of Kannoral, convert to the God Tearmain, or switch loyalty to General Selanad, or worse. With the conclusion of the current adventure we can lead to the next adventure, but they need to surviving this one.

Barry Blackstone has been fascinated with the biblical reference to "giants" since childhood but only began looking deeper into the subject when he was challenged by a member of his congregation twenty-five years ago. Over those years, Blackstone compiled information on all the named "giants" and those that slew them (men well-known like David, Joshua, and Caleb and those not so well-known like Othniel, Elhanan, and Abishai). Travel with this pastor through the Bible as he reveals the origin of the "giants," how they survived the Flood, and when they were finally wiped out in the days of David. With strange names like Rephaim, OG, Arba, Anak, Sheshai, and of course Goliath, learn about their fabled size, their formable weapons, and why they all were so easily defeated! This exploration will cover some of the greatest battles described in Scripture and will uncover how to win against gigantic foes personally. Each chapter is written in a devotional style that will bring a spiritual encouragement to the reader and will help them see that no matter how invincible the adversary, "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Rom 8:31).

It has been three decades since the last significant book was published on SiC ceramics (other than those books that specifically focus on SiC semiconductors). Thirty years has been a long time in the world of SiC ceramics. In the early 1990s, SiC was still a relatively obscure ceramic even within the materials community, prominent only as an industrial abrasive (carborundum), and a refractory (Chapter 7). This has all changed dramatically in the 21st century. For example, As a semiconductor, SiC greatly surpasses silicon in performance, especially in high-power systems. Its market penetration since its launch in 2001 has been exponential. Single-crystal SiC semiconductors are covered in Chapter 3 Millions of military and paramilitary personnel have globally been protected with lightweight SiC body armour, since the late 1990s. Body armour is covered in Chapters 4 and 5 SiC–SiC is a composite material close to commercialization that makes possible high-temperature load-bearing applications hitherto only able to be hypothesized: from ultra-high-temperature jet turbine blades to advanced nuclear fuel encapsulation, the possibilities are very promising. This is a collection of essays based on my 40 years experience in the martial arts. They are intended to cause the reader to think and spark conversation and debate rather than give absolute answers. To teach is to challenge and this collection will hopefully do just that. These esays are also intended to help martial artists from all styles and schools to better understand one another.

In Pain Almost In Vain is a real-life account of a nervous disorder patient from the moment he was diagnosed, through his journey finding the cure, not curing, up till rehabilitation. His disorder affects his sensory, muscle motors and digestive system. He is still in continuous pain due to his skin hypersensitiveness, burning sensation, muscle cramps, stiffness, numbness, imbalance and a slightly improved digestive system. He writes about how his disorder brought him to meet different practitioners and people who have changed his outlook towards life. He approached his predicament as a normal human with remorse, anger, frustration and he didn't hide his real feelings. He expressed what he sees and experienced in a casual, sincere and slightly humorous manner. In Pain Almost In Vain shows how all problems should be faced in a child-like attitude, trying everything possible, listen to suggestions and do it without worrying about the results because we are not the one determining it. He realized from his ailment that out there, people are readily willing to help him, not individualistic as he perceived. He has learned that being with other patients is an education. It is a book about appreciation, love and hope.

This publication consists of the Government's response to the Committee's report, published in March 2004. This report looked at the British contribution to the operation in Iraq and paid attention to both the preparatory and deployment stage, and the transition from combat to peace keeping.
