Berawal dari sebuah percakapan dengan beberapa anak-anak Badui dalam yang sedang beristirahat. Dengan kesantunan bahasa verbal dan tubuhnya, mereka menjelaskan tentang rasa dan manfaat dari buah Harendong yang sedang mereka nikmati. Dari perilaku dan cara menjelaskannya, tercermin hasil didikan yang baik dan berhasil. Hal ini menjadi menarik untuk diteliti, karena selama ini anak-anak Badui tidak diperbolehkan untuk mengenyam pendidikan nasional. Maka dengan pendekatan kualitatif, metode etnografi realis penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa metode pendidikan tradisi Badui yang selama beratus-ratus tahun berhasil menjaga kesantunan dan kesederhanaan hidup warga Badui.

Against the background of language and nation formation in Indonesia, this book demonstrates how language planning is inseparable from the broader actions of the state, and how postcolonial nationalism and globalization have had profound implications for language use and state actions to control it. Using language planners’ texts, national and regional policy statements and the discussions of university English majors, it explores the borders of what can be defined as Indonesian, Javanese and English languages, and how this is informed by ideologies of language and nationalism in contemporary Indonesia. The tensions played out in the book between the ideologically perceived languages around which policies are built and the realities of linguistic performance and the resources of the individual are echoed across the globe, making this book crucial reading for anyone interested in the interplay of language planning and language use.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Social Sciences, ICONESS 2023, held in Purwokerto, Indonesia, in 22-23 July 2023. The 88 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 198 submissions. The papers reflect the conference sessions as follows: Education (Curriculum and Instruction, Education and Development, Educational Psychology, Social Science Education, and Elementary Education); Religion (Islamic Education, Islamic Civilization, and Shariah Economic), and Literation (Teaching English as a Second Language/TESL, Language and Communication, Literacy).

Sacrosanctum Concilium opened the door to all Christians to understand the contemporary challenge to their life and health, and it started with the reform of the liturgy. In the words of Paul VI the liturgy is the 'first source of life communicated to us, the first school of our spiritual life, the first gift we can give to Christian people by our believing and praying, and the first invitation to the world.' That is surely true for all of us.

The book contains essays on current issues in Social and Political Sciences, such as the issues of governance and social order; social development and community development; global challenges and inequality; civil society and social movement; IT-based community and social transformation; poverty alleviation and corporate social responsibility; and gender issues. Asia and the Pacifi c are the particular regions that the conference focuses on as they have become new centers of social and political development. Therefore, this book covers areas that have been traditionally known as the social and political areas such as communication studies, political studies, governance studies, criminology, sociology, social welfare, anthropology and international relations.

The new standards and changes exist in social science studies. Covid 19, especially in Indonesia, at the end of 2019, has an impact on changes in every sector of life. This change is a form of community adaptation. Therefore, this conference aims to explore theoretical and practical developments of the social sciences, to build academic networks while gathering academics from various research institutes and universities. This book provides the new standard and encourages many thoughts in theoretical and empirical studies in the social field. The scope that can be generated in this standard includes patterns, opportunities, and challenges in social science, learning to new standards, learning innovation, and implementing new learning standards in Indonesia, which was adopted in the form of the Merdeka Belajar program. The study results will fill the gaps in knowledge in the new social life and social science. Therefore, this book aims to mediate the researchers in the same field to discuss and find solutions to current issues in the social field and build cooperation and synergy in creative ideas to work together to create joint research. This book will be interesting to students, scholars, and practitioners who have a deep concern in social science. It is futuristic with a lot of practical insights for the students, faculty, and practitioners. Since the contributors are from across the globe, it is fascinating to see the global benchmarks.

This is an open access book. The Unima International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanity (UNICSSH) 2022 was conducted on October, 11th – 13th 2022, at The Grand Kawanua International City, Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. In 2022, Universitas Negeri Manado will host the Indonesian National Education Convention (KONASPI) X. Konaspi is a routine activity of the PPTKN which is held once every four years. The fourth industrial revolution (4.0) is marked by technological advances and supported by artificial intelligence that creates opportunities and challenges for the education system. University and vocational school graduates are facing a world transformed by technology which in turn is transforming the workplace from task-based to human-centered characteristics. Certain skills such as critical thinking, emotional intelligence, problem-solving, cognitive flexibility, and knowledge production are required. To answer this demand, the education system must put revolutionary innovation on its agenda. Scholars, researchers, and practitioners are invited to share ideas, research results, and best practices about education, science, and technology now and in the future at an international conference held by Universitas Negeri Manado as part of the Indonesian National Education Convention (KONASPI). As part of KONASPI X activities, Universitas Negeri Manado is holding the 2022 International Conference on Education, Social Science, and Humanities (ICESSHum). The topics in this international conference are Education, Law, Politics and Social Sciences, Economics, Public Administration, and Humanities. Through these themes, it is expected to involve many professionals who have indirect roles in related fields. To enrich this event, the committee invites all national and international participants (including academics, researchers, professionals, and other relevant stakeholders) to send research papers or review papers to be presented at the conference.
