Even though he was born to step into his father’s shoes as Alpha, Jared Dorfman left his pride behind in Quilpie. Content with being nothing more than a lone lion and friend to the Mount Roxby Wolf Pack, he helps where he can. That is, until he crosses paths with an annoying, yet tempting lioness. Saskia Beaumont wants nothing more than to prove herself to her pride. When her Alpha sends her on a mission to bring back his runaway son, she accepts without argument. Returning him to the pride should be easy, but staying away from him on the way might prove much harder. The safety of the pride is on the line—and so are their hearts. Can Jared really walk away for good, or will he take on the role he never wanted?

This study is an attempt to uncover the structure of three emotion concepts: anger, pride and love. The results indicate that the conceptual structure associated with these emotions consists of four parts: (1) a system of metaphors, (2) a system of metonymies, (3) a system of related concepts, and (4) a category of cognitive models, with a prototypical model in the center. This goes against an influential view of the structure of concepts in linguistics, psychology, anthropology, according to which the structure of a concept can be represented by a small number of sense components.

Restoring Pride is "elitist" in that it acknowledges that some people are better as human beings than others, and that they have made themselves so by perfecting their natural talents. The idea of the Sermon on the Mount, that the poor and the meek are blessed, is repudiated. Instead, Taylor embraces the classical Greek ideal of virtue as personal excellence without any suggestion that everyone is equal in worth. The proud, setting the rules and standards for themselves, are apt to be looked on as unconventional. However, one invariable rule guides their behavior toward others: considerateness. The same egalitarian standard applies to their treatment under the law in a democratic society.

For as much as he ever wanted to do the right thing, it seemed Tad Kaphar never could. With a life of gangs, drugs, and alcohol came a rash of subsequent consequence. Waking up every morning after to the realities of whatever aftermath he was faced with did nothing to change him. The hurt of a cheating wife, the pain of losing his children, and the depth of sorrow that lay deeply embedded within his emptiness served only to keep him stuck in the muck of life. Knowing that only he held the key to his having a better life, Tad realized that he would have to overcome personal demons disguised as emotions, reconstruct a negative self-concept that was built by others, and learn how to deal with the mountain of guilt he was storing inside. Dealing with difficulties head-on was never his style before, but that all changed when he realized that this, in fact, was the key he was searching for.
