Lost Generations is a tragicomic, at times hilarious, saga of a well-off Sikh family forced out of Rawalpindi during the partition of Punjab in 1947. The story follows the family's struggles and partial rehabilitation as they settle in Delhi, attempting to keep up the appearances of their affluent past and preserve their old mores. Around them, however, the world is disintegrating, and eventually, they face death, destitution and an uncertain future once again in 1984. Lost Generations is a story of misogyny, sexism, racism, intolerance, corruption, exploitation, and materialism all innate to Indian society.

Through the eyes of the main character, who is caught between the complexities of his dual culture as he travels back and forth between his home in America and his homeland, this powerful novel explores the important global issues of our time. The Lost Generations is a novel that enlightens readers about what happens on a daily basis, and what life is like in the other parts of the world outside America. . It takes the reader on a journey through the vicious cycle that occurs everyday in the less developed countries. The narrative voice is mainly third-person omniscient and does not remain that way throughout the novel. It is a new and different voice.
