James Mott Hallowell (1865-? ) was an American author and Former Assistant Attorney-General of Massachusetts. He wrote The Spirit of Lafayette (1918). A few years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence a hostile Mohawk chief met in council a representative of the young American republics for the purpose of concluding a treaty of peace.
