Canada has produced many successful proponents of the genre known as heavy metal. Drawing on interviews with the original artists of the 1980s, this book provides a new perspective on the dreams of musicians shooting for an American ideal of success ... and ultimately discovering a uniquely Canadian voice in the process.

I was born in 2009 after my creator grabbed her creative balls and decided to let me out of her imagination. Damn, its good to be out and alive! As I said, I was born in 2009 and was let out in 2010. My creator was inspired by a great friend of hers. R.I.P Shawn! He had a passion for riding his motorcycle and was an unbelievable man. My creator has taken an artistic journey and expanded me into a Book complied of crazy digital abstract paintings. She has put me on Hoodies, T-Shirts (long and short sleeved), and is now doing customized prints of other riders Pride and Joy, their bikes! Soon I hope to be on the back of riders all over the world. People have seemed to taken an interest in me before I even knew wherwe I was going, what a rush it is! The more bikes I get to take on, in an artistic way of course, the more alive I feel. What an empowering journey this is to be a part of something so creative and so different and most importantly being a part of something that captures the very essence of ones glory. To feel the wind at your back, the sun beating down on you, and the energetic force that is the motorcycle! My heart races when I can hear a growl, flying down an open road and it almost seems to whisper catch me if you can. These Proceedings are published to give a full account of the Fifth International Conference on Atmospheric Electricity held in September 1974 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Bavarian Alps in Germany. Traditionally, the Proceedings of these Conferences have served as reference books updating the textbooks and monographs on Atmospheric Electricity. As treated by these Conferences, Atmos pheric Electricity covers all aspects of this science, including the processes and problems which reach out into the Earth's environment as well as analogous processes on other planets and on the Moon. A history of these Conferences, an account of their purpose, and an outline of the scope and the preparation is to be found at the end of these Proceedings. There, also the Business Meetings of the involved organizations are mentioned. The Proceedings closely follow the original program and are accordingly organized into "Sessions". The papers printed in each "Session" in this book are the ones which were accepted for the sessions of the Conference with the same numbers and titles. Only the two "Special Sessions" have been given different numbers in the Proceedings, i.e. 2a and 10. In principle, all papers which were accepted by the Executive Panel either for full oral presentation or for printing in the Proceedings only, have in fact been included in these Proceedings, whether they were presented or not. In the latter case, a special note is made to explain the absence of a discussion.
