Learning that we never have to covet what our sistah have because God's plan towards all of his daughters lives are much greater than we can imagine. Disovering who we are through the eyes of God and not the lables that people have placed on us.

Sistahs Speak is an anthology, a collection of nonfiction stories, poetry, creative nonfiction, personal narratives, and critical essays from women living with HIV/AIDS. This project seeks to create a space for women to share their stories in their own voice, with an open heart as a vehicle for chronicling the experiences of women living with HIV/AIDS. The goal of this project is to empower the reader, support the soul, and uplift the spirit of women living with HIV/AIDS and the collective communities each one represents.

Journey to Self: Journey to Love is a collection of personal poems, thoughts, and blog entries from my journey through love. In searching for love, I've continued to make a full circle back to myself and my Creator. Some of the stories are sad and some funny, but all are worth sharing. It is my hope that lives will be touched and changed by seeing the authenticity of my experiences and perceptions. I'm not afraid of the truth; it is what sets me free During my short 30 years of life, I've experienced so much about love and relationships. I trust that we all have experienced our fair share. What if your experiences and being healed from the lessons learned are a part of your assignment from God? Now who signs up for heartache and pain? Not one of us. If these experiences can be used to help a younger generation or to help heal another, I'm ready to share. What I've learned about love is that it is a journey just like life! Sure it hasn't all been roses and it hasn't all been heartache, but it has been a road that has led me back to my first love; God, my Creator. This is the refreshing part of the journey. This is the part of the journey where all of Heaven and the Angels rejoice in knowing that we have remembered the One who first loved us. There is no greater love. So I say that, love is a journey where you go searching and ultimately find yourself. You find the God that is within and the God who created you. You remember what you were born to do! Wellbeing is essential for Black women professionals who are experiencing racial and gender battle fatigue within White spaces and beyond. Strategies for maintaining and thriving are presented not only for them, but for White institutions to become more aware and active in helping to address necessary change.

The Day I Stopped Being Pretty, chronicles the life of a young, black, gay male who awakes and finds himself in the emergency room after a failed suicide attempt, reflecting on the men who shaped him into the person he has become. After waking up after failed suicide attempt, a young, black, gay man begins to reflect on the vent of his life that led to this moment. His story addresses the discovery of his burgeoning sexuality and his life filled with low self-esteem, leading him to seek love in the arms of many to compensate for the love he never received from his father. During the course of his life, we see his battle with substance abuse, physical abuse, and sexual activities that lead to his eventual HIV diagnosis. After he shares the path that led him to his own self-destruction, he realizes the love that he has sought in many others, has always been in the one place he never looked: within himself. This raw and gritty story spans twenty-seven year of the lead character’s life, as he faces racism, homophobia, rape, and coping with being HIV positive. It is a story that shows the face of growing up black, living gay, and staying positive. The Day I Stopped Being Pretty is one that shows triumph over adversity and the ability to find the love we all search for: self-love.
