Produced by the North American Anarchist Studies Network (NAASN), and edited by Jeff Shantz and pj lilley, this volume comprises papers from NAASN's 5th Conference [La Red Norteamericana de Estudios Anarquistas / Le Reseau Nord-Americain d'etudes Anarchistes]. Anarchism is experiencing a remarkable resurgence in the new millennium. Not only active in the streets across Turtle Island, growing interest in anarchist scholarship is perhaps unprecedented. The study of anarchism as a philosophical, political, and social movement has burgeoned both in the academy and in the global activist community in recent years. This collection of articles contains the English contributions to the 4th Austrian Students’ Conference of Linguistics (Österreichische Studierenden-Konferenz der Linguistik, ÖSKL), which was held in November 2011 at the University of Innsbruck. With this collection, the editors want to make the insights and the knowledge presented at the 4th ÖSKL available in written format to a wider public. The contributions present in this collection are excerpts from PhD as well as diploma theses and seminar papers. The fifteen papers collected in this volume are very diverse, as are the authors themselves, who come from nine different countries, from Portugal in the West, Iran in the East and Norway in the North. The papers come from a variety of linguistic subdisciplines. Anarchism and Political Modernity looks at the place of 'classical anarchism' in the postmodern political discourse, claiming that anarchism presents a vision of political postmodernity. Anarchist Developments in Cultural Studies (ADCS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal devoted to the study of new and emerging perspectives in anarchist thought and practice from or through a cultural studies perspective. The interdisciplinary focus of the journal presumes an analysis of a broad range of cultural phenomena, the development of diverse methodological traditions, as well as the investigation of both macro-structural issues and the micro-logical practices of everyday life. ADCS is an attempt to bring anarchist thought into contact with innumerable points of connection.
