When the process is thoroughly understood, it is generalized and fixed firmly in the mind by a briefly stated rule. After this follow the problems bearing on the subject. These, by their practical character as well as by their great number and variety, furnish the drill necessary to produce a ready skill in dealing with numbers as they present themselves in everyday life.
