Horrors of the Night is a collection of short Mysterious, Psychological, Suspense, and Horror stories that will make you shiver and sleep with your lights on. Some of the stories are inspired by true events and some are inspired by ideas of my dear readers! Inside this scary collection you will find: "BABYSITTER" Rachel was just a regular teenager living a normal life when the new, rich family moved into town. They had 2 children and were looking for a babysitter. She thought it would be a nice way to get some money. What was in store for her, however, was a bloody and shocking night to remember. "DARK SIDE" Selene and Damien seemed like a normal couple, but Damien started to act weirdly and spent a lot of time in his price room where he did his job. Damien was an artist and needed his private area. What was Damien actually doing in his private room was more terrifying than Selene could ever have imagined. "FUN HAUNTED HOUSE" Heather Crawford didn't like being around people. However, she agreed to visit an old Fun Hunted House, after her friend Mark convinced her. There were many rumors about the house being haunted, but scary things started to happen only after they left the house. "BLINK" Jarred`s family decided to move and he really didn`t like that. If only he knew what horrors awaited in the basement. "THE OTHER SIDE" What would you do if you call your own number and someone answers? Joe found himself in that situation and discovered that there is another Joe. Joe, which comes from a dark place. "YOU CAN'T ESCAPE" Mary had to run away from her husband and her past to save her children. She found a new home. But this new home is hiding a secret. A secret that will take her to a time when all horrors started. "THE MASTER BUTCHER" A true story about Armin Meiwes that shocked the world. To the outside world, Armin Meiwes seemed like an everyday nerd. He had an unassuming look and worked as an IT guy in a computer firm. Unbeknownst to the world, he had a craving... a dark craving for human flesh. "POSSESSED" Whatever Franklin Mercer does he cannot escape the Smiling Lady. They all think he is crazy but is he really? "THE ROSE KILLER" A serial killer is leaving bodies and roses behind and no one can trace him. Not even Matt Knowles, a promising young detective. Matt is the only one who can stop him, but will he succeed before it is too late? "THE CURSE OF HERNANDEZ" A newly married couple found the perfect home to call their own. While cleaning out the upstairs attic the husband discovers an old suitcase. Upon opening, they find the remains of documents and papers with their last name on them- Hernandez. Strange, but they decided to ignore it and throw the suitcase away. They should have never done this because that is when strange things started to happen. You can now get them all together and indulge yourself in some fine suspenseful horror stories!

Before my experience with the supernatural world of horror began, I'd read a few articles about the subject in magazines and newspapers and also about people who'd experienced strange ordeals of the supernatural type. I never took what I read too seriously until it happened to me. Although many strange paranormal stories have been made over the years into films or TV series, I never dreamt that anything of this strange nature would ever touch my life. However, it did during the 1980s and created upheaval in my career and life at the time. I had thought that such events were fantasies until inexplicable happenings started to affect me in Ankara. I guess I'd just been too complacent about the paranormal world and now I was about to learn that it existed as it gradually began to touch my life. Its evil clutches began to grasp at my body revealing the first wake-up call of its existence.

This book considers the cultural meanings of death in American journalism and the role of journalism in interpretations and enactments of public grief, which has returned to an almost Victorian level. A number of researchers have begun to address this growing collective preoccupation with death in modern life; few scholars, however, have studied the central forum for the conveyance and construction of public grief today: news media. News reports about death have a powerful impact and cultural authority because they bring emotional immediacy to matters of fact, telling stories of real people who die in real circumstances and real people who mourn them. Moreover, through news media, a broader audience mourns along with the central characters in those stories, and, in turn, news media cover the extended rituals. Journalism in a Culture of Grief examines this process through a range of types of death and types of news media. It discusses the reporting of horrific events such as September 11 and Hurricane Katrina; it considers the cultural role of obituaries and the instructive work of coverage of teens killed due to their own risky behaviors; and it assesses the role of news media in conducting national, patriotic memorial rituals.

The figure of the monster in medieval culture functions as a vehicle for a range of intellectual and spiritual inquiries, from questions of language and representation to issues of moral, theological, and cultural value. Monstrosity is bound up with questions of body image and deformity, nature and knowledge, hybridity and horror. To explore a culture's attitudes to the monstrous is to comprehend one of its most important symbolic tools. The Monstrous Middle Ages looks at both the representation of literal monsters and the consumption and exploitation of monstrous metaphors in a wide variety of high and late-medieval cultural productions, from travel writings and mystical texts to sermons, manuscript illuminations and maps. Individual essays explore the ways in which monstrosity shaped the construction of gender and sexual identity, religious symbolism, and social prejudice in the Middle Ages. Reading the Middle Ages through its monsters provides an opportunity to view medieval culture from fresh perspectives. The Monstrous Middle Ages will be essential reading for anyone interested in the concept of monstrosity and its significance for both medieval cultural production and contemporary critical practice.
