Keene, and Numerous Other Plates Any general remarks on the history or architecture of the churches herein treated, it will be better to reserve until those of the whole county have been described; and I will content myself with remarking, in respect of the bountiful provision of the Church of mediaeval England, that, even within the limited area of the Hundreds of Appletree, and of Repton and Gresley, upwards of a score of churches and chapels, which have completely disappeared, were then Open to the worship of the faithful.
