Two years ago, Smith embarked on a mission to regain her sense of self. She was inspired to write her first inspirational work, P.S. Pray the Same For Me, following a spiritual journey that left several questions unanswered in her life. Smith crafted a book of bespoke prayers t her female ancestors, asking to be released from her inherited baggage while simultaneously praying for their souls. She felt that by addressing the "unfinished business" through an introspective journal of prayers and affirmations, she could seek help within herself, allowing history to heal itself and encourage others to do the same.

This book explores the conscience and motivation of one of the most admired persons in history: St. Thomas More. Most people know that Thomas More wrote a book called Utopia about a perfect society and got his head chopped off by King Henry VIII. But there was much more to the man. More not only occupied England's most powerful position under the king as Lord Chancellor, but was also a devoted family man, a Renaissance figure of renown throughout Europe, and the author of works of apologetics as well as poetry, fiction and plays. Even while awaiting execution in the Tower of London, his multi-volume "Tower writings" poured out, evidence of his deep faith and life of prayer.

If God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and entirely good, why do we need to ask God to do good things? Won't God act for the best regardless? Do our prayers even make a difference? Why do some go unanswered? This brief, accessible book provides a fresh angle on our questions to help us think differently about why we pray and what happens when we pray. John Peckham applies the insights from his successful book Theodicy of Love to the perennial problem of petitionary prayer, offering practical implications for how we might pray and live in ways that advance God's kingdom of unselfish love. Since our understanding of petitionary prayer is inseparable from our understanding of God, Peckham sheds significant light on the nature and character of God and the often-mysterious workings of divine providence. He does so by bringing theological and philosophical nuance to readings of key biblical texts on prayer, weaving in other scriptural clues to articulate an understanding of prayer that highlights not only its necessity but also its urgency. This book will appeal to students, pastors, church leaders, and thoughtful laypeople.

Many years in preparation, this first volume of Lang and Shannon's edition of Tennyson's correspondence lives up to all expectations. In a comprehensive introduction the editors present not only the biographical background, with vivid portrayals of the dramatis personae, but also the story of the manuscripts, the ones that were destroyed and the many that luckily survived. The Tennyson who emerges in this volume is not a serene or Olympian figure. He is moody, impulsive, often reckless, now full of camaraderie, now plagued by anxiety or resentment, deeply attached to close friends and family and uninterested in the social scene. His early life is unenviable: we see glimpses of the embittered, drunken father, the distraught mother, the swarm of siblings in the rectory at Somersby in Lincolnshire. The happiest period is the three years at Cambridge, terminated when his father dies, and the two years thereafter, with Arthur Hallam engaged to his sister and a frequent visitor at their house. The shock of Hallam's death in 1833, coupled with the savage attack on Tennyson's poems in the Quarterly Review, is followed by depression, bouts of alcoholism, financial problems, and gradually, in the 1840s, increasing recognition of his work. The year 1850 sees the publication of In Memoriam, his long-deferred marriage at age forty to Emily Seliwood, and his acceptance, not without misgivings, of the post of Poet Laureate. The editors have garnered and selected a large number of letters to and about Tennyson which supplement his own letters, fill in lacunae in the narrative, and reveal him to us as his friends and contemporaries saw him.

A CLASSIC COLLECTION ON PRAYER is a compilation of three of the finest titles on prayer ever published. It intends to familiarize Christians with the source of power available to them through prayer. THE KNEELING CHRISTIAN is a classic book on prayer that answers the most basic questions Christians have about prayer: “How shall I pray?”, “What is prayer?” and “Does God always answer prayer?” In A SHORT METHOD OF PRAYER, Madame Guyon teaches this simple truth: Pray from your heart and not your head. She also shares the great difference between praying to God and experiencing God through prayer. HOW TO PRAY by R. A. Torrey covers a number of prayer topics such as prayer and obedience, praying in the Spirit, praying according to God’s will, prayer with thanksgiving, when to pray, prayer and revival, and much more! These powerful titles have stood the test of time, all the while pointing the way toward communion with God as well as the life-changing benefits that spring from it.
