"You want your students to be successful - not just in the classroom, but throughout their lives as well. With PE Connections: Helping Kids Succeed Through Physical Activity, you can provide the experiences that help students succeed in a much broader sense than is usually associated with a physical education class. PE Connections accomplishes this by offering teachers and after-school care providers three instructional approaches that expand the definition of student success: teaching quality physical education, building social and personal competencies through developmental assets, and creating the foundation for a coordinated school health program."--BOOK JACKET.

This monograph developed out of the Abendseminar of 1958-1959 at the University of Zürich. The purpose of this monograph is to develop the de Rham cohomology theory, and to apply it to obtain topological invariants of smooth manifolds and fibre bundles. It also addresses the purely algebraic theory of the operation of a Lie algebra in a graded differential algebra.

This comprehensive new resource presents applications of MEF’s (Metro Ethernet Forum) Carrier Ethernet architecture and provides insight into building end-to-end systems with third network services like MPLS-TP, VPLS, and PBT. This book includes new use cases and explores the new MEF/CEN specifications, services, and applications. While providing a look into lifecycle service orchestration (LSO), virtualization, and cloud series, this book highlights the pros and cons of these technologies for service providers and enterprise network owners. Pseudowires architectures, control planes, mutisegment architecture, and multisegment pseudowire setup mechanisms are explained. Ethernet protection is explored, including Automatic Protection Switching (APS) entities, linear protection, ring protection, and link aggregations. This book covers Carrier Ethernet Traffic Management, Carrier Ethernet Operation Administration Management and Performance (OAMP), Circuit Emulation Services (CES), and Carrier Ethernet Local Management Interface (E-LIM). Full chapters on Provider Bridges (PB), Provider Backbone Bridges (PBB), Provider Backbone Transport (PBT), and information modeling are also included in this invaluable resource.

This book is the proceedings volume of the 10th International Conference on Field Programmable Logic and its Applications (FPL), held August 27 30, 2000 in Villach, Austria, which covered areas like reconfigurable logic (RL), reconfigurable computing (RC), and its applications, and all other aspects. Its subtitle "The Roadmap to Reconfigurable Computing" reminds us, that we are currently witnessing the runaway of a breakthrough. The annual FPL series is the eldest international conference in the world covering configware and all its aspects. It was founded 1991 at Oxford University (UK) and is 2 years older than its two most important competitors usually taking place at Monterey and Napa. FPL has been held at Oxford, Vienna, Prague, Darmstadt, London, Tallinn, and Glasgow (also see: http://www. fpl. uni kl. de/FPL/). The New Case for Reconfigurable Platforms: Converging Media. Indicated by palmtops, smart mobile phones, many other portables, and consumer electronics, media such as voice, sound, video, TV, wireless, cable, telephone, and Internet continue to converge. This creates new opportunities and even necessities for reconfigurable platform usage. The new converged media require high volume, flexible, multi purpose, multi standard, low power products adaptable to support evolving standards, emerging new standards, field upgrades, bug fixes, and, to meet the needs of a growing number of different kinds of services offered to zillions of individual subscribers preferring different media mixes.

Philosophy and Computing explores each of the following areas of technology: the digital revolution; the computer; the Internet and the Web; CD-ROMs and Mulitmedia; databases, textbases, and hypertexts; Artificial Intelligence; the future of computing. Luciano Floridi shows us how the relationship between philosophy and computing provokes a wide range of philosophical questions: is there a philosophy of information? What can be achieved by a classic computer? How can we define complexity? What are the limits of quantam computers? Is the Internet an intellectual space or a polluted environment? What is the paradox in the Strong Artificial Intlligence program? Philosophy and Computing is essential reading for anyone wishing to fully understand both the development and history of information and communication technology as well as the philosophical issues it ultimately raises.

Higher circuit densities, increasingly more complex application ohjectives, and advanced packaging technologies have suhstantially increased the need to incorporate defect-tolerance and fault-tolerance in the design of VLSI and WSI systems. The goals of defect-tolerance and fault-tolerance are yield enhancement and improved reliahility. The emphasis on this area has resulted in a new field of interdisciplinary scientific research. I n fact, advanced methods of defect/fault control and tolerance are resulting in enhanced manufacturahility and productivity of integrated circuit chips, VI.SI systems, and wafer scale integrated circuits. In 1987, Dr. W. Moore organized an "International Workshop on Designing for Yield" at Oxford University. Edited papers of that workshop were published in reference [II. The participants in that workshop agreed that meetings of this type should he con tinued. preferahly on a yearly hasis. It was Dr. I. Koren who organized the "IEEE Inter national Workshop on Defect and Fault Tolerance in VLSI Systems" in Springfield Massachusetts the next year. Selected papers from that workshop were puhlished as the first volume of this series [21.
