Perfecting Training

According to [Ephesians 4:11-16], we are first told that the gifts were given: 'And He gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers.' This is the initial step; then the result is unto the work of the ministry, that is, unto the building up of the Body of Christ. How could the Body be built up? By the growth in life. Then out of the growth in life the function will come, the operation in measure of each one part, to cause the growth of the Body unto the building up of itself in love. Thus, there is the initial stage and then there is the result. Between these two ends is the perfecting of the saints. If there is no perfecting of the saints, all the gifts given by the Head become vain. Also, there will be nothing to cause the growth of the Body in life that functions may come out to build up the Body in love. The crucial and central point in this portion of the Word is the perfecting of the saints. Throughout the past years the Lord has been leading us in the ministry to perfect the saints for the growth in life so that the functions may come out to build up the Body in love.

In this issue we will continue four lines of ministry. The first line--The History of the Lord's Recovery--contains chapters 5 through 8 of The Apostles' Teaching, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1990. This section includes fellowship concerning the outpouring of the Holy Spirit for the baptizing of all the believers into one Body, the ministry of Christ in His ascension, and the rapture of the saints. The second line--Words for New Believers--contains the concluding chapters of Crucial Truths in the Holy Scriptures, Volume 6, chapters 58 through 60, which are in volume 4 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1932–1949. These chapters cover the subjects of paradise and the lake of fire, the rapture of the believers, and the second coming of Christ. This section then continues with chapter 1 of a new book, The Crucial Revelation of Life in the Scriptures, which is in volume 2 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1969. This chapter covers the matter of life as seen in Genesis 1. The third line--Maturing in Life--contains chapters 49 and 50 of The Kingdom, which are in volume 2 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1972. These chapters cover the exercise of the kingdom and a rich entrance into the kingdom. This section then continues with chapters 1 and 2 of a new book, Perfecting Training, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1980. These chapters contain an opening word concerning the perfecting training and a word on the damage of opinion. The fourth line--The High Peak of the Divine Revelation--continues with chapters 22 through 25 of Crystallization-study of the Epistle to the Romans, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1994–1997. These chapters cover the grace of God and the announcing of the gospel.

This book Advances in Technology and Management contains 116 full length papers presented at the International Conference on Technology and Management, held on June 12-13, 2012, Jeju-Island, Korea. The goal of ICTAM 2012 is to bring together researchers working in many different areas of technology and management to foster international collaborations and exchange of new ideas. This volume can be divided into two sections on the basis of the classification of manuscripts considered. The first section deals with technology. The second section of this volume consists of management.

This section includes messages on aspects of what Christ is, the way Christ builds His church, the way to produce the church, and the church as the Body of Christ and the fullness of Christ.The second line--Words for New Believers--contains chapters 2 through 5 of The Fulfillment of God's Purpose by the Growth of Christ in Us, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1970. These chapters cover how to take Christ as our life, the way to have the growth of Christ within us, enjoying Christ by calling on the name of the Lord, and being saved and renewed by Christ as life.The third line--Maturing in Life--contains chapters 19 through 22 of Perfecting Training, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1980. These chapters contain messages on being unloaded to live Christ, being active-passive to live Christ, being reduced to live Christ, and vessels open to the Lord.The fourth line--The High Peak of the Divine Revelation--contains chapter 16 of Crystallization-study of the Gospel of John, which is in volume 4 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1994–1997, and chapters 1 through 3 of The Christian Life, which are in volume 2 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1991–1992. These chapters cover an intrinsic interpretation of John's writings, the definition of the Christian life, the contents of the Christian life, and the all-inclusive Spirit.

Although Florence Nightingale is famous as a nurse, her lifetime’s writing on nursing and to nurses is scarcely known in the profession. Nursing professors tend to “look to the future, not to the past,” and often ignore her or rely on faulty secondary sources. Volume 12 related the founding of her school at St Thomas’ Hospital and her guidance of its teaching for the rest of her life. Volume 13, Extending Nursing, relates the introduction of professional training and standards outside St Thomas’, beginning with London hospitals and others in Britain, followed by hospitals in Europe, America, Australia and Canada. Also presented is material on work in India, Japan and China. The challenge of raising standards in the tough workhouse infirmaries is reported, as is Nightingale’s fostering of district nursing. A chronology in this volume provides a convenient overview of Nightingales work on nursing from 1860 to 1900. Both volumes give biographical sketches of key nursing leaders.
