Pottery From The University Of California Berkeley Excavations In The Area Of The Ma Ki Gate Mg22 Nineveh 1989 1990

Nineveh, Iraq, is one of the longest occupied cities in the world, dating at least back to the mid-7th millennium BC. UC Berkeley excavations uncovered a district of large dwellings and wide streets near the Maški Gate (MG22), providing a stratigraphic history of Late Assyrian ceramics at the centre of the empire through to the 7th century BC.

Sheds light on the motivations that lay behind the adoption of pottery, the challenges that had to be overcome.

A rich portrayal of how Romans used their pottery and the implications of these practices on the archaeological record, considering an array of evidence including Latin and ancient Greek texts and representations in Roman art. It will appeal to specialists and academics interested in archaeology, Roman pottery and ceramics.

Excavations at Highgate Wood, London, over a period of eight years uncovered at least ten pottery kilns, waster heaps, ditches and pits, but only a few definite structures. This volume provides a very detailed analysis of the forms and fabrics of the pottery finds.

Excavations on the Koukounaries Hill, Paros, Greece from 1976-1992 revealed a 12th century B.C.E. Mycenaean building, an Iron Age settlement, and an Archaic sanctuary. This volume presents the pottery from five areas inside the building, as well as the pottery from a limited reoccupation after the building's destruction and abandonment.

Excavated between 1928 and 1931, the area of the "Potters' Quarter" is marked by many finds of moulds and wasters. The site seems to have occupied between the 8th and 4th centuries B.C. This volume, the first of three on the finds from this area, describes the graves and metal objects, the buildings, and the molds for making figurines.
