Problem Solving Level 3

The three levels of the Targeting Maths Problem Solving series of CD- ROMS, Big Books and Strategy and Work Sheet Books work together to provide resources for teaching, learning, interacting with and solving a wide variety of problems using a range of strategies.

Beast Academy Guide 2A and its companion Practice 2A (sold separately) are the first part in the planned four-part series for 2nd grade mathematics. Book 2A includes chapters on place value, comparing, and addition.

It includes: 50 leveled math problems (150 problems total), an overview of the problem-solving process, and ideas for formative assessment of students' problem-solving abilities. It also includes 50 mini-lessons and a dstudent activity sheet featuring a problem tiered at three levels, plus digital resources that inc electronic versions of activity sheets. This resource is aligned to the interdisciplinary themes from the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and supports core concepts of STEM instruction.

This fifth volume of PISA 2012 results presents an assessment of student performance in problem solving, which measures students’ capacity to respond to non-routine situations in order to achieve their potential as constructive and reflective citizens.

Beast Academy Practice 3A is aligned to the 2010 Common Core State Standards for 3rd grade mathematics. The book provides over 300 problems ranging from introductory level exercises to very challenging puzzles and word problems on shape classification, skip-counting, and perimeter and area.

The OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) examines not just what students know in science, reading and mathematics, but what they can do with what they know. Results from PISA show educators and policy makers the quality and equity of learning outcomes achieved elsewhere.

This book examines the results of the special portion of the 2003 PISA survey of student achievement relating to problem-solving skills. It examines how countries can raise their performance in this area and what countries with lower performance levels can learn from those whose students do well.

This 96-page book features two short, reproducible activities per page and includes enough lessons for an entire school year.
