In a small Texas town, murder brings home the unforgotten past. Twenty years ago, as Hurricane Althea lashed Central Texas, twelve-year-old Jordan Poteet and his friends decided to ride it out in their tree house. But in the still eye of the tempest, they raced for safety--and stumbled over the body of a beautiful girl. Now, the six schoolmates who shared the grisly sight of death so long ago are being coolly murdered, one by one, day by day. By whom? Why? Unless Jordan and Police Chief Junebug Moncrief, another survivor of the storm, can answer those questions fast, it will be their turn to die. . . .

Promises To A Home Child, is a historical fiction story, based on real events. It begins in the late 1800's, when child immigration was at its peak. The children subjected to this treatment were called Home Children and were brought over under the promise that they would have a better life in Canada than living in the streets and workhouses in England. No doubt, some did thrive and were treated well but, others were not. They were indentured to their masters until the age of eighteen with little pay for working on the farms and in the shops and homes across Ontario and the rest of Canada.Mary, Elizabeth Taylor, was my paternal grandmother and it is to her memory that I dedicate this book. I hope you enjoy reading about her exceptional and amazing life, as much as I enjoyed discovering the many challenges she so bravely faced. Her spirit, like a beacon of hope, prevails to this day within her descendants and we promise to never forget you or any of the many Home Children who helped build our great land. We thank you, Mary.

Margaret is sure it's just the rumored takeover of his company--until she meets Randi, The Other Woman... Meanwhile, Nina, the orphaned cousin the Cranes raised as their own daughter, is reveling in New York. She thinks she's found Mr. Right in Keith, a brilliant investment banker. But Keith has a secret he has not shared with Nina. All he asks for is time...and patience. And as Nina clings to stolen weekends with Keith, Margaret plays dutiful wife, trying to ignore warning signs of her own failing marriage. A rift has developed between the two women who have loved each other as mother, daughter, friends. Keith is not welcome in Margaret's home. And Nina herself is the other woman...
