Random Thoughts In Verse

This book reflects on several aspects of life like nature, flowers, books, children etc., Man from birth to death experiences several problems, several emotions and several feelings. Joys and sorrows are inseparable in life. We are able to transcend our joys and sorrows when we give expression to those feelings of joys and sorrows in an artistic form. This book has given adequate satisfaction to the authors in writing out their different reactions to the turbulent and exciting aspects of life. Besides inner joy, it satisfies the quest of the artists in establishing their individuality and real identity. It also questions the several traditional practices in the conventional society ruled by men. Very often the creative urge of several persons do not find the correct channel. That is why many are not able to come up with their ideas. The publication of this book gives some sort of a spiritual uplift to the authors.

Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Confluence of Random Thoughts is a collection of poems on diverse subjects. The collection is intended to provide pleasurable reading; however, some of the poems will provoke you to deep reflection as you may inevitably see yourself before a mirror. While the book is not presented to be used as part of an educational curriculum, I have no doubt that you may learn some lessons for life and living. I do hope you get as much pleasure from reading each of the poems as I have had putting them together.

Facets of life. Throughout life we are faced with many situations. Some break us down to the point where we cannot fall to our knees because they have already been swept from underneath us. Others touch us so deeply, move us so sincerely, we are humbled by our own tears of joy. Emotions. Strong and fierce they almost seem to control themselves. Poetry. Strong and fierce it almost seems to speak aloud. Words. The language of the soul is how I see poetry. Letting my emotions run freely. No boundaries in poetry. No right, no wrong. Just poetry. Like emotions. Like Life. This is not a book of poems, this is a book of poetry. Of emotions. Of Life.

Literally thousands of books on poetry can be found. Some on love, some about little children. Then, there are some books each containing poems on a wide variety of different subjects. So, what makes this book any different? Well, for one thing, each poem in this book consists of no more than 20 words. Yes, very short poems. Some words are hyphenated. I consider them as a single word. Anyway, keeping all poems short with less than 20 words was intentional, just to be different. This book of poems is divided into several chapters whereby many different areas of interests are categorized and represented. Some are funny, some are serious. And, I must admit, some don't make much sense at all. Then later I would ask myself, "what in the world was I thinking?" But, I had fun writing them so I left them in anyway. When you read each individual poem, draw your own conclusion as to what each means. Some of you may understand them immediately. Some of you may like them, some of you may not. Then again, you may ask yourself, "what in the world was he thinking?" Fred C. Gilmer
