Since 1984, the FAO GLOBEFISH project (through a project unit established within the Fishery and Aquaculture Department of FAO www.fao.org/in-action/globefish) has been providing Governments, national and international stakeholders with relevant data, information and knowledge on fish trade in order to assist them in designing and implementing efficient and inclusive market and trade strategies. These strategies contribute to the sustainable development of the fish trade sector (including the economic, social and environmental aspects) and, at the same time, contribute to improving food and nutrition security and strengthening livelihood opportunities and are directly linked to SO4. The publication contains a detailed quarterly update on market trends for a variety of major commodities. Combining the price information collected for the European Price Report with other market survey data collected by FAO GLOBEFISH, the report provides a detailed update on market trends for a variety of major commodities. Key market data is presented in a time series tabular or graphical form with written analysis of trends and key events and news affecting commodities such as tuna, groundfish, small pelagics, shrimp, salmon, fishmeal and fish oil, cephalopods, bivalves and crustacea.

When you sit down with Lily and the Octopus, you will be taken on an unforgettable ride. The magic of this novel is in the read, and we don’t want to spoil it by giving away too many details. We can tell you that this is a story about that special someone: the one you trust, the one you can’t live without. For Ted Flask, that someone special is his aging companion Lily, who happens to be a dog. Lily and the Octopus reminds us how it feels to love fiercely, how difficult it can be to let go, and how the fight for those we love is the greatest fight of all. Remember the last book you told someone they had to read? Lily and the Octopus is the next one.

Rigid eight-wheelers with internal combustion engines were developed as a response to requirements and opportunities embedded in the 1933 Road and Rail Traffic Act. Although AEC was first in the field, in late 1934 or early 1935 Leyland was able to announce its Octopus. By the Second World War the Octopus had become a favourite with operators, known to carry a legal payload economically and reliably. After the war the driveline of the Octopus basically remained unchanged until 1960. Specification options were few, yet the model remained a market leader with lengthy waiting lists for new chassis. The model remained in production until the late 1970s and, as AEC authority Graham edge writes, 'For most of its productive life the Leyland Octopus was the definitive British eight-wheeler lorry.' The many superb photographs in this book range from shots from the 1930s including what is probably the first Octopus chassis and a rare TEW tipper to 1979 and an Octopus 2 which started service that year with a compacting refuse body. The text covers the full production story, and there are Appendices which give chassis and engine details.

Remarkable new discoveries affirm the octopus as one of nature’s most intelligent and complex animals. This new book—written by the beloved author of the international bestseller The Soul of an Octopus and enhanced with vivid National Geographic photography—brings us closer than ever to these elusive creatures. The companion to the highly-anticipated National Geographic television special, this beautifully illustrated book explores the alluring underwater world of the octopus—a creature that resembles an alien lifeform, but whose behavior has earned it a reputation as one of the most intelligent animals on the planet. This magical journey into the world of the octopus will reveal how the large and capable brain of these creatures occupies their whole body–not just their heads—and they can actually adjust their genetic makeup to respond to the demands of the environment. It will allow readers to watch them change shape and color in order to camouflage themselves more effectively than any other species. And it will divulge how octopus mothers give their all in order to bring forth a new generation. With this offering, acclaimed author Sy Montgomery—known, thanks to her bestselling book, as the “octopus whisperer”—returns to the species she knows and loves, offering current and compassionate stories about the scientists on the front lines of octopus research and conservation. For all animal lovers—and especially those drawn to this magical marine being—this will be a book to relish, for both its fascinating imagery and its charming storytelling.
