Anthony Gay spent 22 years in solitary confinement and faced 108 total years in prison. His journey began when he allegedly stole a dollar bill and a hat during a neighborhood fight as a teenager. During his time in solitary, he turned to writing. While he was isolated from most human contact, words comforted him.
