Ryan The Lion

Ryan the Lion is a beautifully illustrated children's story that explores themes of social tolerance, self-esteem and personal identity. Ryan is a lion cub who acts like the other animals in the jungle because he thinks they are cooler than lions. In doing so, however, he attracts their ridicule. As Ryan grows up, his mane gets longer and his roar develops. Soon he attracts admiration, and he feels pride in being himself.

Ryan is a young lion who has to deal with many of the trials and tribulations many kids face on a daily basis. Because of his difference, his peers treat him like an outcast and don’t allow him to participate in any of their fun and games. One day, Ryan decides that he would ask God to help him with his dilemma. Suddenly, his village is infiltrated and taken over by a pack of wild hyenas. They laugh and taunt him until they realize that Ryan is not the same lion whom they thought him to be. Ryan overcomes his dilemma and ends up saving the day. This story is about overcoming things such as bullying, shaming, and the negativity that kids face every day. It also shows that by having faith, believing, and being courageous, you can overcome almost anything.

Ryan is a young lion cub who tries to practice his father's roar, but can only squeak. His mother explains why his having a roar is important, and, together, Ryan and his mother set off on an adventure to find a roar. He finds his roar in a most unusual place and in a way we can all hear it on occasion. Jim Lamb is a retired Employee Relations Manager who writes stories for his grand-children. He and his wife live in Chesterfield, Virginia. They divide their time between their home, an old farmhouse in Nelson County, Virginia, and the Washington, D.C. metro area visiting children and grand-children. You will find this is a heartwarming story about an 11 year old boy named Ryan who turned into a lion. The story shows how Ryan and his parents dealt with the changes taking place in Ryan's life. Ryan is just trying to live a normal life by participating in activities that any 11 year old boy would. I attempted to write a story as lighthearted as possible that dealt with a child who had an unforgiving illness. And I wrote this story in memory of my friends son as he passed away from cancer. His name was Ryan. Some of the proceeds are going towards Children's Hospitals.
