Seven Truths About Love

The perfect example of love is in God our Creator. Agape love is the highest form of love ‒ selfless and sacrificial. It is steadfast and unchanging and unconditional. God gave His only Son to die for the sins of the world. For God so loved – that He gave. He gave the best He had for you and me to have eternal life. Jesus died that we might be forgiven of all sin ‒ past, present, and future. God’s love is so wonderful! Through Jesus we have been made righteous, the righteousness of God Himself. We are clothed in His righteousness. Our good deeds and self effort will never get us to Heaven. The only way to Heaven is through Jesus.

At about the same time in my life that I became a father, I learned the principle that masculinity bestows masculinity. However, since I did not learn this principle until I was almost 40 years old, I grew up struggling mightily in my own masculine identity and maturity. So I also knew from experience how critically important it was for me to fulfill my responsibility in passing along this principle to my two sons, Jonah and Jacob. Therefore, I created a list of seven “statements of truth” that encompassed what I wanted to teach my sons about becoming and living as a man, an authentic man, the kind of godly man that is described in the Bible. I began telling my sons these truths every night at an early age so they would become engrained in them, as part of their very essence, and my boys would never doubt them. I also spent years preparing for the time when I would elaborate on the full meaning of each truth with my sons, as part of a day of celebration of their entry into manhood. Those years of preparation became this book, which I published to help other fathers (or father-figures/mentors) train their sons (or any boy) how to become a real man. My hope is that this book will be a blessing and an encouragement to every boy who receives it as he enters into (and lives out) authentic manhood.

The Seven Sacred Teachings is a message of traditional values and hope for the future. The Teachings are universal to most First Nation peoples. These Teachings are aboriginal communities from coast to coast. They are a link that ties First Nation, Inuit and Métis communities together.

Romans 14:1: “Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.” Paul wrote about accepting, welcoming, and making allowances for those who are not exactly like us. We need to accept and love them even if they are weak in faith, and not argue about what they think is right or wrong. Paul wasn’t talking about putting up with each other, but loving and accepting each other as God loves and accepts us. We still deal with issues in the Church in these days. It is sometimes easy to become judgmental. The Word of God is clear on this (Romans 14:10).

Of course, you can start at Chapter 1 and read the whole book if you prefer, and our prayer is that every reader will be greatly blessed by what they read. The majority of these sixty-three chapters have been released individually as booklets, and every chapter as individual eBooks that are available in all formats from major eBook distributors. Unforgiveness, resentment, harbouring bitterness won’t change anything with the situation or with the other person. But it will eat us out. A grudge weighs heavy on us. Satan rides on it and tells us lies, such as, “We have a right to be angry, we are justified – look how they treated us.” We need to protect ourselves. Resentment and anger destroys us. Nothing is too deep for God’s grace and the Holy Spirit to reach down and remove it. Don’t listen to the accuser. Deep-seated anger, pushed down over many years, will manifest itself in other ways, such as depression, hopelessness and despair. There is always a root cause, and this needs dealing with in prayer and wise counsel, or perhaps with a trusted friend.
