A meditation on that intangible part of ourselves that we call the Soul. In a series of short poems, written in a spare and simple but compressed style, Nicki Leonie takes us through the development of the Soul, starting out as a blank canvas and gaining form and colour as we change and grow as humans. We see the dangers that come from living without feeling, learning or understanding. Beside each poem is a photograph of a landscape - trees, rivers, waterfalls - showing the Soul's natural affinity with the poetry of the natural world.

This simple little book from a great spiritual giant attends to what we human beings are most inclined to forget: preparing for and engaging in prayer. It is an examination of what we ourselves must bring to the discipline of prayer--whatever form it takes--in order to make prayer authentic and real, a deep and profound part of our lives. None of the brief reflections in this book are ever finished, ever closed, ever fulled resolved. They are all ongoing steps along the way, steps we retrace over and over again as we do all the other parts of life, until they become the very breath we breathe, the vision and energy of our souls.

How do you describe the world around you? How do you make sense of it all? For me, I use the written word. Soul Reflections is my diary of poetry I started at the age of twelve. These poems embody the myriad words and feelings stored in my heart, in my spirit, and in my soul; these poems represent a contemplative introspection of the myriad of thoughts, beliefs, and opinions locked away in my conscious and subconscious mind. In this book, I have included poems of happiness, pain, grief, and joy. With each turn of the page, you will experience poems addressing the human condition, the composition of my world, social and political change, and my philosophy of life. Soul Reflections is a testament to my ongoing dialogue with God and my exploration of Christianity and theology.

As we move into the twenty-first century, many of us feel a yearning for spiritual awakening and divine guidance. We may look outside of ourselves for answers, whether to therapists, coaches or others, but ultimately the healing of soul and spirit is an inner quest. Author and transformational psychologist Dr. Marilyn Barrick takes us on a spiritual-psychological journey—the journey of the soul from heaven to earth and back again. She skillfully interweaves psychological interpretation, insights into karma and reincarnation, stories and self-help exercises. To help us on our journey, she examines the lives of real and legendary heroes in their quest for enlightenment. She shows how love and compassion can initiate a healing process for the soul. And through her inspiring meditations and practical exercises, she offers creative ways to help us transform painful experiences of the past.

This little book of lyrical prose is an introspective reflection of events observed and experienced from a philosophical view point. It is largely influenced by the writings of Khalil Gibran, Omar Khayyam and current thinking in quantum thought. I have put together a personal composition of work to encapsulate my perception of the world. I look at humanity governed by paradigms out of its control to which it humbly succumbs to. I am influenced by spiritual thought which echoes through most of the verses. This I attribute to having spent many years in India and making several trips to Rishikesh. The perennial nature of the soul which guarantees human existence never fails to intrigue mankind throughout history no matter how suppressed such thoughts are. Thinkers influence the way we live from time immemorial. Some of us are born orators, others are born writers. Even before we take on this life on earth we have our skills inherent in us, waiting for the moment to express itself. I trust you find this book engaging as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
