Standing On God S Promises Not Sitting On His Premises

The culture in which we live is an infectious and polarizing wilderness. Facing the challenges of society will require strength outside of us to be successful. It will require faith in God, through His Son Jesus Christ, to address hate, injustice, implicit bias, division, poverty, anti-Semitism, etc. Now more than ever, we must stand on the promises of God through obedience to His Word and not sit on His premises if positive change is to take place in our culture through Christianity. As the scriptures tell us, “For unto us a Child was born, a Son was given, and the government is on His shoulders; and His name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). God promises victory to those who believe, obey His Word, and stand on His promises.

America has become the divided states instead of the united states because it has polarized, paralyzed, and politicized all Americans. Since 2016, there has been a lack of leadership at the highest level of government, increased racism from White supremacists, and a failed response to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, we are a country in crisis that will require Christian and non-Christian Americans to come together in unity. The Scriptures tell us unto us a child is born, a son is given (Jesus Christ), and the government will be on his shoulders. Today, it appears the church is on the shoulders of the government. To place the government back on the shoulders of the church, much prayer will be needed to invoke the power of God, through Jesus Christ, to carve an individual and national path to heal Americans and our land to move forward in 2021.For unto us a child is born, and unto us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. (Isa. 9:6)However, presently in America, it appears politically the church is upon the shoulders of the government.Any society that substitutes humanity's latest and greatest ideas for God's truth and authority is on the fast track to ruin.... It took place in the midst of urban flirting within churches; in places like Jamaica; Germany; Las Vegas; Lake Mead; Switzerland; France; our cabin in the Poconos, Pennsylvania; Churchville, Maryland; at our parents home in Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina, and Hallsboro, North Carolina; Hampton Ministers Conference in Hampton, Virginia; and along the seashores of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The aim of Sit on Our Hands, or Stand on Our Feet is not to present a theology that explains disasters. In fact there is no such theology. Nor is this work primarily for those who are responded to; it is not part of the theological 'grab bag' that Christian responders carry with them to use for the benefit of casualties. It is more a part of the Christian's engaged practical theological apprenticeship prior to, and during, a response. This book represents the role of the practical theologian, who empowers the church community's legitimation and contribution in disaster response, and who encourages individual Christians--whose calling into particularly relevant professions, whose natural skills and/or professional training, could find them placed in a major incident responding status (paid or voluntary)--doing their work as unto the Lord.
