Stark is a secret consortium with more money than God, and the social conscience of a dog on a croquet lawn. What's more, it knows the Earth is dying. Deep in Western Australia where the Aboriginals used to milk the trees, a planet-sized plot is taking shape. Some green freaks pick up the scent: a pommie poseur; a brain-fried Vietnam vet; Aboriginals who have lost their land...not much against a conspiracy that controls society. But EcoAction isn't in society: it just lives in the same place, along with the cockroaches. If you're facing the richest and most disgusting scheme in history, you have to do more than stick up two fingers and say 'peace'.

I hunt demons.I don't work for them. And I promised my mom one thing before she was murdered: Under no circumstances, would I ever go near the high demons. But I'll break that promise over and over again if it helps me avenge her death. When my only lead turns to ash in the middle of demon territory, I'm suddenly a dead witch walking. Violence in Samael's club is an automatic death sentence... unless he can use you. And it turns out that the most powerful demon in the country has a use for little ol' me. Demons are being slaughtered. His demons. And as a bounty hunter, it's up to me to find out who would dare hurt his people. I've got two weeks to find the killer, and if I fail, I'm bonded to Samael. Forever. Samael's certain that I'll be his, but I'm not the kinda girl who risks her freedom for a demon. I'm the kinda girl who won't let anyone get in the way of her vengeance- not even the Machiavellian control freak who thinks he can run my life. The problem? I've pissed the wrong people off. Now I'm the one being hunted, and someone's coming for me with everything they have. But I'm never more dangerous than when my back is up against the wall. And I'm ready to come out swinging.

From a master teacher and writer, a fully revised and updated edition of the results-oriented approach to legal writing that is clear, that persuades—and that WINS. More than almost any profession, the law has a deserved reputation for opaque, jargon-clogged writing. Yet forceful writing is one of the most potent weapons of legal advocacy. In this new edition of Writing to Win, Steven D. Stark, a former lecturer on law at Harvard Law School, who has inspired thousands of aspiring and practicing lawyers, applies the universal principles of powerful, vigorous prose to the job of making a legal case—and winning it. Writing to Win focuses on the writing of lawyers, not judges, and includes dozens of examples of effective (and ineffective) real-life legal writing—as well as compelling models drawn from advertising, journalism, and fiction. It deals with the challenges lawyers face in writing, from organization to strengthening and editing prose; offers incisive ways of improving arguments; addresses litigation and technical writing in all its forms; and covers the writing attorneys must perform in their daily practice, from email memos to briefs and contracts. Each chapter opens with a succinct set of rules for easy reference. With new sections on client communication and drafting affidavits, as well as updated material throughout, Writing to Win is the most practical and efficacious legal-writing manual available.

Stark's conjectures on the behavior of $L$-functions were formulated in the 1970s. Since then, these conjectures and their generalizations have been actively investigated. This has led to significant progress in algebraic number theory. The current volume, based on the conference held at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD), represents the state-of-the-art research in this area. The first four survey papers provide an introduction to a majority of the recent work related to Stark's conjectures. The remaining six contributions touch on some major themes currently under exploration in the area, such as non-abelian and $p$-adic aspects of the conjectures, abelian refinements, etc. Among others, some important contributors to the volume include Harold M. Stark, John Tate, and Barry Mazur. The book is suitable for graduate students and researchers interested in number theory.

Based on a study of over 400 women worldwide, Runaway Husbands: The Abandoned Wife's Guide to Recovery and Renewal, is the first book to explore and offer healing strategies to women whose lives have been turned upside down by Wife Abandonment Syndrome. This Revised and Updated edition expands on the groundbreaking first edition that led to the development of an amazing global community of women working together to recover from Wife Abandonment Syndrome - when a husband leaves out-of-the-blue from what his wife believed to be a happy, secure marriage. Following his sudden departure, he typically replaces the caring he'd previously shown her with blame and anger, leaving his bewildered wife totally devastated. The Revised and Updated edition includes new chapters that discuss the husband's possible Covert Narcissism, the effect of this kind of divorce on the father/adult child relationship and the challenges of co-parenting with an ex following abandonment. Written by family therapist Vikki Stark, MSW, who herself had a runaway husband, the book helps women understand in full what could motivate a loving husband to morph overnight into an uncaring stranger and provides them with the tools they need to move forward and rebuild their lives.
