Sweet Potato Pie for the Spirit, Soul & Psyche --A Tribute to Oprah Winfrey & Super Soul Sundays --A Thick, Rich Slice of Wisdom & Empowerment --A Book of Inspirational Quotes & Positive Affirmations Sweet Potato Pie for the Spirit, Soul & Psyche is a book of wisdom, abundance, empowerment, prosperity and success. Its purpose is to help individuals move forward in life in positive ways through increased self-improvement, self-development, self-motivation, self-reflection, self-actualization, self-determination, self-transformation and self-enhancement. And, it introduces and draws upon alternative mental health and wellness techniques like Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, Mind-setting, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Time Line Therapy (R), Mental Massages, Parts Integration, Values Realignment, Regression Analysis, Defense Mechanism Analysis, All Day Breakthroughs, Freudian Psychoanalysis and Ericksonian Therapies. It illustrates the concept that pills alone will not solve most mental, emotional and/or psychological problems. The idea for this book came from watching Super Soul Sundays (R) on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) (R). Watching the show has been such an inspiration for me. It's been a teacher. Oprah's "Thought for Today" newsletter (R) has also been a great inspiration. As an MD with two Abundance, Empowerment, Mind-setting and Prosperity Practices, MLC Of Greater Atlanta [MLCOGA], and Atlanta Coaching and Hypnotherapy Associates [ACHA], I help my clients to realize that there are motivations, inspirations and moments of insight that are readily available to them. In practice, I found myself continually sending my clients to other sources to find concepts, affirmations, quotes and statements that would help empower them and fuel their meditations on a daily basis. So, I decided to create one for them so that I wouldn't have to necessarily send them elsewhere. At my core, I believe that we should find and share positive energy. This book represents my opportunity to share the positive energy and encouragement that I've received from my parents, Reverend Harlis R. Wright & Dr. Bettye D. Wright, my mentor, Dr. Todd M. Antin (The CEO and Chief Medical Director of PACT Atlanta, the largest psychiatric practice in Atlanta), Dr. Oprah Winfrey, my teachers & professors, my friends and strong acquaintances, life circumstances and other sources. Chapter one covers how to confront anxiety, chapter two covers the biochemistry and physiology of sleep and natural approaches to solving sleep disorders and dilemmas, chapter three covers the power of words, phrases, mantras, speech and affirmations, chapter four covers hypnosis, hypnotherapy and how they work, chapter five covers happiness, what it means, and how to create it, chapter six covers how to sow seeds of abundance, empowerment, prosperity and success in life (and it relates them to the movie "The Matrix" (R)) in order to create a resilient mindset and a strong degree of mindfulness, and finally, chapter number seven provides you with one third of a year of motivational quotes, inspirational phrases and positive affirmations. This book was created to help empower you, help inspire you, help fuel your meditations, to help fuel your dreams & aspirations, to help fuel your hypnosis sessions, to help energize your mind, body, spirit & soul, to help you stay mentally refreshed and renewed, to help empower your thoughts and prayers, and to nourish for your mind, body, spirit, soul & psyche. Finally, it introduces you to alternative mental health and wellness techniques like Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, Mind-setting, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Time Line Therapy (R), Mental Massages, Parts Integration, Values Realignment, Regression Analysis, Defense Mech

“The vast majority of diet plans and approaches fail because they expect a person to make too many primary changes at once. In essence, they expect you to change overnight (instead of doing so gradually and naturally), leaving most dieters feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. And, plans, goals and objectives tend to fail when they require too many steps too quickly.” The Nutrient Diet is a “Lifestyle Approach” for general & mental health based upon sound psychological principles. The Nutrient Diet is 50% Diet and Nutrition, and 50% Cognitive Behavioral Psychological Strategies for eating behaviors, dieting, impulse control and habit formation. The Nutrient Diet is the first book of its kind to take a “Cognitive Behavioral” approach to diet, nutrition, health, wellness, weight loss, weight management and lifestyle management. The Nutrient Diet truly is a “Trendsetter” in the diet, health, wellness, medicine, nutrition, weight loss, weight management and lifestyle fields. The Nutrient Diet also encompasses principles from “Ketogenic Diets” and “Ketogenic Approaches”, taken from insights, research data and clinical findings introduced to Dr. Wright by Dr. Christopher Palmer, the Harvard Expert on the ketogenic diet. Dr. Palmer has used the “Ketogenic Diet” in his practice for the past 2 decades. “Being overweight, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, peripheral artery disease, coronary artery disease, pulmonary diseases and other chronic health and mental health conditions are escalating because people are stressed out and their first impulses and reactions are to use food and alcohol to self-medicate,” Dr. Wright points out. “The Nutrient Diet shows you how to use planning, strategy, habits, rituals, actions, and behavior patterns (i.e., cognitive behavioral methods) so that they become allies in your weight-management, diet, and lifestyle goals. Together, these tools, methods, resources, strategies, and approaches will help you to develop healthy nutrition habits, lose weight, understand how foods work in your body, break food addictions, and develop better health and lifestyle practices — while simultaneously adding joy, happiness, and fulfillment to your life. Seeing Americans (including myself) gain weight during the COVID19 Pandemic inspired the writing of “The Nutrient Diet”, since obesity is a significant risk factor for increased morbidity and mortality associated with a COVID19 infection. Weight really does matter, especially during a global pandemic associated with an insidious, aggressive and highly mutagenic respiratory virus.” When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, Dr. Wright answers, “The keys to diet, weight management, and impulse control are habit and ritual creation, formation, and sustainment. Changing habits gradually and in a sustainable way is the only true way to be healthy and to maintain a weight and lifestyle that works for you. The key isn’t doing what everyone else does. The key is combining the science of nutrition with what works with your unique DNA, metabolism, lifestyle choices and individual health and weight goals. The real key is where science meets individuality and unique lifestyle goals and choices. These choices and habits all protect you from poorer health outcomes (including from viruses like COVID19). Maintaining a healthy weight prevents hospitalizations from COVID19.” The Nutrient Diet was also inspired by the courage and confidence by which Oprah Winfrey took on health conditions like being overweight and obesity during the 80s and 90s on the Oprah Winfrey Show ®--taking away much of the stigma and shame associated with weight-oriented challenges and body image.

Since the 1980s, I''ve seen literally hundreds of diet plans come and go. Although a few of them, such as Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and Nutrisystem, have appeared to stand the test of time, most of them seem to come and go like the wind. I got to see this up close and personal within my own family, within myself, and within the clients of my practices. Through all these observations, and by taking an analytic approach to them, both singularly and in aggregate, I came to the conclusion that the vast majority of these diets fail because they expect the individual to make too many primary changes at once. In essence, they expect the person to change overnight--which rarely happens anywhere in nature (including within humanity, i.e., our species). The same is true of most diets (i.e., lifestyle modification plans [LMPs]). Because they are generally complex, even when someone strives to make them easy, they are difficult to permanently install as a habit, routine, and/or ritual. That''s why it''s so difficult for the vast majority of individuals to start, continue, and complete a diet (or other lifestyle plan). The Nutrient Diet isn''t just a diet and nutrition book. It''s a lifestyle book for general and mental health. David A. Wright, MD, MM, MBA, MHSA Dr. Wright''s new lifestyle, health, wellness, nutrition, and diet book, The Nutrient Diet, could not have come at a better time in history. Nutrition and diet are the building blocks of all metabolic activity, and they form the underpinnings of both general and mental health. I have been using ketogenic diets to treat patients with psychiatric disorders, ranging from major depressive disorder, to bipolar disorder, to schizophrenia, for almost two decades. Because of this, I understand all too well just how crucial nutrition and diet are to general health, neural health, and mental health. By presenting a succinct book that combines all the central medical concepts of nutrition with psychological strategies for maintaining a host of new dietary, wellness, health, and lifestyle choices and behaviors, Dr. Wright has found a unique, logical, and flexible method of answering the two most crucial questions when it comes to diet, nutrition, health, wellness, medicine, and mental health--"What should I eat?" and "How should I eat?"--in a single book. Christopher M. Palmer, board-certified psychiatrist Harvard psychiatric expert on the ketogenic diet This lifestyle, health, wellness, nutrition, and diet book could not have been conceived and written at a more prescient time than during a pandemic, which stresses even the most hearty and stable among us. It is well-known in the field of mental health that what we ingest has a direct and observable effect on our psychological well-being and functioning. The building blocks of all essential neurotransmitters are vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, which are found in the foods included in sensible and healthy meal plans, but often we, both as individuals and as a society, make it more complicated than it needs to be to include these nutrients in our diets. Dr. Wright''s book brilliantly offers a road map to success in both being and eating healthy by taking a few simple and easily achievable steps attainable in a reasonable time frame. The Nutrient Diet is a must-read for anyone who wishes to take a more holistic approach to better living and who wishes to have improved satisfaction with their daily lives and with their mental functioning. Todd M. Antin, MD, Board Certified in Adult, Addiction, Forensic, and Geriatric Psychiatry Emory Quadruple-Board-Certified Expert in Psychiatry For those who wish to maintain or improve their health by eating properly, know that Dr. Wright''s book is informative and inspirational from a medical clinician''s perspective. Dr. Wright splendidly reminds us that we are what we eat and that all dietary consumption should be done in moderation. In just twelve short weeks, by following Dr. Wright''s instructions, starting with a balanced consumption of water and ending with bonus general health and mental health nuggets, you will be able to bring your life to a state of excellence in both physical and mental health. Pastor Harlis R. Wright, Master of Science, Biology Master of Divinity, Columbia Theological Seminary Pastor, Faith Presbyterian Church (Pine Bluff, Arkansas) Science professor for thirty-five years
