Almost no one goes to Gulinger High because he wants to. Most want to escape as soon as they arrive. But what happens when one does escape? Keenan Goodrich is about to find out. When he sees for himself the kind of freaky people that inhabit Gulinger Private Academy Keenan thinks facing the Mob is better than facing werewolves, half-elves, vampire bitten people, and the cursed. Valentines Day is fraught with dangers. A mysterious gifter is sending Selena Davenport amazing tokens of his love--and it is up to Tom Brown to.... uh... save her by sabotage. Meanwhile a bewitched perfume entraps the vampire-bitten Troy, leaving others alone yet rendering him helpless. His friends must combine to figure out what's wrong and undo the magic before it is too late. After all, who uses magic that only affects people with a vampire bite? Vampires.

West End Prep, the daughter school to Gulinger High, wins again... at everything. At Academic Decathlon, at sports, and apparently at life. But that's only because they don't let the dangerous and psychic ghoulies participate. Cheaters--Tom insists. Finally fed up with the mysterious new private school for specially chosen ghoulies and mafis, Tom Brown decides to find out what West End Prep is really up to. After all, though they don't want werewolves and other extremely dangerous ghoulies, and they refuse to have psychics... but they are keeping an eye on them anyway. Tom sneaks off to find the truth. But the truth is scarier than even he could imagine. And it may affect his future forever.

Selena has blackmailed Rick Deacon to be her society escort--starting with the Christmas Ball at the Plaza Hotel. And though Rick tries to do his part, he has no idea why Selena chose him out of all the people in Junior League and Gulinger Private Academy. Especially since he is 3 years younger than her. For she, who is a sneaky and manipulative siren, must have some ulterior motive. But even Selena is not prepared for what will take place at that Christmas ball, nor the repercussions it would hold for her or Rick in the years to come.

Rick Deacon is recruited by the New York police department to help "sniff out" the orchestrator of the most boggling jewel heist of the century--as recently deceased people are breaking into the shops in hordes and making off with the jewels...and though their bodies have been found, the jewels have not. Necromancy is involved.

What happens when Gulinger Private Academy's secret location is discovered? And by the Mafia? Most of the kids at Gulinger High are in hiding from one form of organized crime or another. So going out on field trips... well, things can get dangerous. It is a good thing the other half of the student body are ghoulies--those with special abilities involving the supernatural. After all, what can the mafia do against half-elves, werewolves, witches' familiars and the cursed?

Tom Brown is usually guilty. His nickname is Trouble. He steals his roommate's wallet and cell phone all the time. He often trashes the school office and floods the school bathrooms. And if there is a prank to be played, he will do it. So it is only natural for the half-imp to be identified as the culprit of any and every minor crime committed in a 30 mile radius. Yet when the police come around to claim Tom for burglary in the area near China Town where Gulinger Private Academy has relocated, Tom is adamant that he is not guilty. Can they believe him? Or is he doomed to be forever guilty?
