C S Lewis readers will identify the main title of this new book: Melvin Tinker uses Lewis's prescient fiction work as a launchpad for a fascinating look at the rapidly changing worldview of Western civilization. Too often books dealing with these issues are academically inclined and not accessible by the ordinary reader: that is not the case here. Based on a lecture delivered at GAFCON in June 2018, this book will stimulate thinking and open the eyes of Christians to the dangers of the worldview relentlessly promoted by the media.

"She had begun by dreaming simply of a face. Its expression was frightening because it was frightened. The face belonged to a man who was sitting hunched up in one corner of a little square room with white-washed walls - waiting, she thought, for those who had him in their power to come in and do something horrible to him. At last the door was opened...She could not make out what the visitor was proposing to him, but she did discover that the prisoner was under sentence of death. Whatever the visitor was offering him was something that frightened him more than that. The visitor, still smiling his cold smile, unscrewed the prisoner's head and took it away. Then all became confused." "The third novel in C.S. Lewis's classic sci-fi trilogy begins with Jane Studdock's horrific nightmare. The next morning she sees the same face in a newspaper - a brilliant French scientist guillotined for poisoning his wife. Jane has the growing feeling that she is being warned of something real and sinister. Her husband, Mark, meanwhile, is drawn into the National Institute for Co-ordinated Experiments, which is engaged in a plan to control human life."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. In 2018 EP published the original That Hideous Strength: how the West was lost; the book originated as lecture notes author Melvin Tinker prepared for a conference in Jerusalem that year. That edition deliberately had no footnotes and was as compact as possible to appeal to a wide audience. As well as unpacking in more detail some of the ideas of cultural Marxists and the way their strategies are being worked out in our society, the author has also sought to put more flesh on what the Church's response might look like by drawing attention to what has been called 'the Benedict Option' and developing the concept proposed by Charles Taylor"€"the 'social imaginary.' This version includes a Postscript on the rise of 'Black Lives Matter' following the death of George Floyd.

C.S. Lewis's Ransom Trilogy, better known as "the Space Trilogy", is a much-neglected and yet critically important part of Lewis' works. It has captivated and bewildered readers since its publication, and though hundreds of books about Lewis have been written, few seek to navigate the maze that is Lewis's "space-travel story." These books are a distillation in novel form of one of Lewis' favorite subjects, a subject whose melody is woven into almost everything that Lewis ever wrote: the medieval model of the cosmos. Deeper Heaven is a guide and companion through the magical web of medieval cosmology, ancient myth, and critique of modern philosophies that makes up the oft-maligned "Space Trilogy." A student and teacher of literature and history herself, Christiana Hale will walk you through the Trilogy one step at a time, with eyes fixed where Lewis himself fixed his: on Deep Heaven and beyond. In the process, many questions will be answered: What does Christ have to do with Jupiter? Why does Lewis care so much about the medieval conception of the heavens? Why should we? And, perhaps the most puzzling question of all: why is Merlin in That Hideous Strength?

This early work by H. P. Lovecraft was originally published in 1936. Born in 1890 in Rhode Island, USA, Lovecraft began writing at a very young age, quickly developing a deep and abiding interest in science. In 1913, Lovecraft joined the UAPA (United Amateur Press Association) but it was four years later, in 1917, that he began to focus on fiction, producing such well-known early stories as 'Dagon' and 'A Reminiscence of Dr. Samuel Johnson'. However, it was during the last decade of his life that Lovecraft produced his most notable works, such as 'the Dunwich Horror' and 'The Call of Cthulhu' which subsequently earned him his place as one of the most influential horror writers of the 20th century. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions.
