Is anything more important than understanding eternal salvation? When it comes down to it, all human beings can be divided into two categories: the saved and the unsaved. Every person longs to find the path to eternal life. Many different paths are tried. But what does the Word of God have to say about it? In The Doctrine of Salvation, Charles Horne explains the basics of this important biblical doctrine. Why is there a need for salvation? What is its basis? What are its results? How can you be assured of it? And how does salvation culminate in eternal life? Using clear and precise language, Dr. Horne lays out the biblical evidence. “The doctrine of salvation is central to the message of Scripture,” he writes. “From Genesis 3 to Revelation 22 we witness the unfolding drama of redemption.” May this book open your eyes to the greatest story ever told!

Excerpt from The Christian Doctrine of Salvation The aim of the present work is to present a biblical, historical, and constructive discussion of the Christian doctrine of salvation. The theme has been regarded and treated primarily as a subject of investigation. I have accordingly approached it from the historical side, and have aimed to state the problems to be considered and to define my positions respecting them in an historical and inductive method. I have tried to judge the various Opinions reviewed and to test my own by means of the fundamental Christian concepts of God and of man. The treatment has been made as objective as possible. It has been my aim to describe and estimate conflicting theories with fairness. My own judgments, with the reasons for them, have been frankly given. It is not to be expected, of course, that they will commend them selves to the acceptance of all readers, but I trust that those who may dissent from them may still find some thing in the book by which they may be interested or instructed. The present discussion presupposes a general know ledge Of Biblical Theology and of the History Of Christian Doctrine, such as is furnished by the relevant sections Of my Theology of the New Testament and Professor Fisher's History of Christian Doctrine, earlier volumes of the International Theological Library. With America's confidence in the Bible at an all-time low and the strength of her spiritual convictions waning, it is essential for Christians—especially Christian leaders—to be well-grounded in biblical theology. To have a clear and comprehensive understanding of the key doctrines of evangelicalism. In response, professor and award-winning author Bruce Demarest has made plain God's glorious plan of salvation, his provision for the human dilemma through Christ's work on the cross, and the application of saving grace to unbelievers. Demarest's unique approach defines each topic, identifies its most pressing issues, examines the ways in which the doctrine has been understood historically, and interprets the Bible's revelation. The result is a clear and carefully constructed doctrinal statement that you can defend, live out, and communicate to others. This singular, comprehensive treatment of one of Christianity's essential doctrines gives definitive, Bible-based answers about salvation and the cross— and about related theological issues such as grace and regeneration. It's perfect for clarifying your theology and gaining deep understanding of this foundational theme. Part of the Foundations of Evangelical Theology series.
