In The Holy Spirit and Christian Experience, Simeon Zahl presents a fresh vision for Christian theology that foregrounds the relationship between theological ideas and the experiences of Christians. He argues that theology is always operating in a vibrant landscape of feeling and desiring, and shows that contemporary theology has often operated in problematic isolation from these experiential dynamics. He then argues that a theologically serious doctrine of the Holy Spirit not only authorizes but requires attention to Christian experience. Against this background, Zahl outlines a new methodological approach to Christian theology that attends to the emotional and experiential power of theological ideas. This methodology draws on recent interdisciplinary work on affect and emotion, which has shown that affects are powerful motivating realities that saturate all dimensions of human thinking and acting. In the process, Zahl also explains why contemporary theology has often been ambivalent about subjective experience, and demonstrates that current discourse about God's activity in the world is often artificially abstracted from experience and embodiment. At the heart of the book, Zahl proposes a new account of the theology of grace from this experiential and pneumatological perspective. Focusing on the work of the Holy Spirit in salvation and sanctification, he retrieves insights from Augustine, Luther, and Philip Melanchthon to present an affective and Augustinian vision of salvation as a pedagogy of desire. In articulating this vision, Zahl engages critically with recent emphasis on participation and theosis in Christian soteriology, and charts a new path forward for Protestant theology in a landscape hitherto dominated by the theological visions of Barth and Aquinas.

Christian Experience is a selection of material drawn from the later years of Donald MacDonald's ministry. These fourteen chapters contain vital spiritual truth illuminated by the personal anecdotes of a man who saw the whole of life in focus because his eyes were fixed on Christ. Donald MacDonald was one of the best known and loved ministers in the Free Church of Scotland during the mid-twentieth century. Converted in Ness, on the Island of Lewis, during a period of revival in the 1920s, he ministered with great fruitfulness in two congregations, first at Urray, Easter Ross and latterly at Greyfriars Free Church, Inverness. In his earliest days as a Christian and throughout the whole of his ministry he developed a deep understanding of spiritual experience, and excelled in preaching on many aspects of it. His teaching married seriousness with a tenderness of spirit born out of his own spiritual pilgrimage; it combined an emphasis on God's holiness with a sense of the wonder of communion with him.

What Does it Mean to Be "Crucified With Christ?" During his lifetime, renowned teacher A.W. Tozer was often invited to speak at seminaries, churches, and Bible conferences on the topic of the cross and its meaning for the Christian life. Now, in this never-before-published distillation of his best teaching on the subject, you will gain a fresh understanding of the cross's centrality to your walk of faith in Christ. The apostle Paul declared in his letter to the Galatians that he had been "crucified with Christ." But what does this mean? Is this a claim every believer can and should make? The Crucified Life is a comprehensive examination of these questions, answered with the deep, biblical thinking for which Tozer was revered. "God is ingenious in developing crosses for His followers," Tozer was fond of saying. At the heart of this book, you will find a call to follow Christ to the cross and be raised to new life--a call to live the crucified life.

Christian Experiences & Spiritual Growth addresses the search for satisfaction with heart and soul happiness. God and being a Christian are seen as its sources. The book defines who is a Christian and how to become one. It dodges none of the trials and temptations in the Christian life but explains how that God as Father, Jesus as Saviour and the Holy Spirit as Guide, Teacher and Comforter, constantly help towards victory, growth, and maturity. Prayer, reading and obeying God’s Word have a pivotal role in the experiences of satisfaction and happiness and the truth that every Christian has a home in heaven is cheering. Readers will gain spiritual knowledge and be able to correct erroneous practice as they read through the book with the Bible alongside, paying attention to the scriptural references on subject areas, put suggestions into practice appropriately and grow spiritually. Reading the book over many sittings will be more profitable than attempting to rush through it. I have employed an explanatory strategy for ease of understanding. For example, I have explained the meaning of some words, phrases, and terms in the body of the book and set out comparative tables to illustrate narratives in the text. These can be used for quick references and reminders.
