Excerpt from The Coroners Act, 1887: With Forms and Precedents The statute De oflicio Coronatoris was merely directory, and in affirmance of the common law, and did not restrain the coroner from any branch of his power, nor excuse him from the execution Of any part of his duty not mentioned in the statute, and which was Incident to his Office at common law. This statute is now repealed, and the Coroner's duty on an inquest is to be gathered from the Coroners Act Of 1887, 50 (it 51 Vict. C. 71, which is set out in the following pages.
