In June, President Whee Iock, by desire of several of the Trustees of Dartmouth Col lege, wrote to him, to solicit the honor of his presence at: the approaching commencement, and' saying, that they should then be happy to show him respect. He added, we have a particular sense of your friendship and influence in favor of the institution. They did at that commencement confer on him the honorary degree of Master of Arts.
