Secret Mark first became known to modern scholarship in 1958 when a newly hired assistant professor at Columbia University in New York by the name of Morton Smith visited the monastery of Mar Saba near Jerusalem and photographed its fragments. Secret Mark was announced on the heels of many spectacular discoveries of ancient manuscripts in the Near East, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi gnostic corpus in the late 1940s, and promised to be just as revolutionary. Secret Mark presents what appears to be a valuable, albeit fragmentary, witness to early Christian traditions, traditions that might shed light on Jesus's most intimate behavior. In this book, Stephen C. Carlson uses state of the art science to demonstrate that Secret Mark was an elaborate hoax created by Morton Smith. Carlson's discussion places Smith's trick alongside many other hoaxes before probing the reasons why so many scholars have been taken in by it.

"Bible Hoax" is a novel where daring spiritual inspiration blends with mainstream entertainment. People are always asking and debating whether or not they can trust God, but this novel digs into the soul to find out if God can trust us? So much is revealed about the faith when a shocking, ancient writing excavated in Jerusalem finally comes to light. The written document had been hidden away for sixty years as a result of a murderous cover-up by the U.S. government; it strongly suggests what many disbelievers feel is the truth, that creative writers wrote the books of the Bible so that humanity would have a higher being to humble itself to. Told through the lives of the diverse and compelling characters in this novel, cracks in their spiritual make-up are exposed through pretense, societal norms and practices, and faulty reasonings. The reader will become engrossed in a world full of disbelief, disobedience, murder, lies, greed, and hatred. Along with the characters in the book, the reader will learn that this harsh lesson was meant to open the eyes of the faithless and prevent their downfall by unmasking their disbelief to create a new era of faith and trust in our God and Savior. "Bible Hoax" will help the reader to recommit to their spiritual enlightenment by gaining a stronger understanding of the spiritual challenges that face us in this world today.

From the National Book Critics Circle Award-winning author comes the gripping true story of a sensational religious forgery and the scandal that shook Harvard. In 2012, Dr. Karen King, a star religion professor at Harvard, announced a breathtaking discovery just steps from the Vatican: she’d found an ancient scrap of papyrus in which Jesus calls Mary Magdalene “my wife.” The mysterious manuscript, which King provocatively titled “The Gospel of Jesus’s Wife,” had the power to topple the Roman Catholic Church. It threatened not just the all-male priesthood, but centuries of sacred teachings on marriage, sex, and women’s leadership, much of it premised on the hallowed tradition of a celibate Jesus. Award-winning journalist Ariel Sabar covered King’s announcement in Rome but left with a question that no one seemed able to answer: Where in the world did this history-making papyrus come from? Sabar’s dogged sleuthing led from the halls of Harvard Divinity School to the former headquarters of the East German Stasi before landing on the trail of a Florida man with an unbelievable past. Could a motorcycle-riding pornographer with a fake Egyptology degree and a prophetess wife have set in motion one of the greatest hoaxes of the century? A propulsive tale laced with twists and trapdoors, Veritas is an exhilarating, globe-straddling detective story about an Ivy League historian and a college dropout—and how they worked together to pass off an audacious forgery as a long-lost piece of the Bible.

Waiting to be rediscovered in the British Library is an ancient manuscript of the early Church, copied by an anonymous monk. The manuscript is at least 1,450 years old, possibly dating to the first century. What the authors eventually discover is as astounding as it is surprising: the confirmation of Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene; the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary Magdalene; a previously unknown plot on Jesus’ life (thirteen years prior to the crucifixion); an assassination attempt against Mary Magdalene and their children; Jesus’ connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire; and a religious movement that antedates that of Paul—the Church of Mary Magdalene.Part historical detective story, part modern adventure, The Lost Gospel reveals secrets that have been hiding in plain sight for millennia.

The Mightiest Hoax in the History of Mankind This book is ''recommended Reading for Students of Comparative Religion.'' and anyone interested in the truth, as it Deciphers Truth from Falsehood. Up until the 16th Century there were no translations of the Bible in English .When Tyndale translated the Bible into English he was declared a heretic, was hunted down and eventually strangled and burnt to death on October 6th, 1536. We can only conclude that this act of the Church was done because when the people read and under stood what was written in the Bible they refused to believe it as the Word of God. In similar manner, when Galileo invented the telescope and concluded that the world was round and revolved around the sun, he was also declared a heretic and killed as this theory (which later proved to be a fact) went against the teachings of the Bible that propounded the belief that the earth was flat and stationery. Sir Godfrey Higgins writes in his book, ''History of the Bible'': ---- many passages have undergone such serious modification of meaning as to leave us in painful uncertainty as to what the Apostils had actually written.'' At a Jesus seminar in America in 1993, it was concluded that - ''82% of the words ascribed to Jesus in the gospels were not actually spoken by him.'' Britannica, 12th edition; vol.3, page 643. Eusebius and other Church fathers, it is reasonable to believe, would not hesitate to make what alterations were necessary in the writings and records of the cult to bring them into line with the creeds they produced. Honesty and accuracy, as we understand them, did not exist in those days. For three hundred years prior to Nicaea no historical records existed, so there was no great difficulty in deluding the people as to the past story of the cult. Anything could be added to or subtracted from its past beliefs without undue comment''. J. Arthur Findlay. There you have it, from the pens of learned CHRISTIAN SCHOLARS that the present Bible is the work of ordinary men and can never be divine. What additional proof could any intelligent person need to disqualify every Bible in existence as the word of God in any language! Can any sensible person argue with such irrefutable evidence?
