World Novelty! One of the biggest mysteries of world history is now solved. The deciphered texts of the ancient south Asian high culture in present-day Pakistan and India from the time between 3000 and 1700 BC are available for the first time here. All of the approximately 2000 texts are arranged and analysed so that the content is now clearly understandable for everyone. The result is the complete self-description of the Indus Civilization which is also known as the Harappa Culture and the Sindhu Sarasvati Culture. The Indus Civilization is already known as the largest and one of the most developed contemporary ancient cultures - at the same level with the then Egyptian and Mesopotamian cultures. Even in some fields, like town building, it was already known as the most progressive society in the world. Its popularity has suffered until now only from the less intimate knowledge due to its unreadable inscriptions and the lack of discovered pyramids. Many attempts of deciphering had failed in the past because of several fatally incorrect prejudices and unrealistic assumptions. It has now been discovered that the system of inscribed stamps was a highly advanced national education program of high-grade, intelligent leaders. Nothing was there by chance. Not only was a system of syllabics and pictograms discovered, but also countless logical cross references like the logical connection of the texts with the accompanying pictures, the consequently followed system of symbolic numbers, metaphors, phrases, curses, etc., as well as the Indian/Persian/Indo-European religious system and Sanskrit language, the traditional values of the society whose roots go even much further back in the past, the tribal structures, the international relationships, the social and political problems in this early time, and much more. Finally the Indus Civilization is in fact shown as the mythological Vedic age. Altogether the texts are a manifest of the high intelligence of our ancestors 5000 year

What the Indologists missed in deciphering the Indus seal inscriptions was the understanding of the basic contours of the script and that they not only meant mere words but flowing sentences. The incredible ideas emerging from the peculiarity of the images employed in writing on being diligently identified through the rebus method leads to defining the current social and religious roots prevalent in India. All the seal inscriptions amazingly follow the phonetic, syntactic and semantic principles; and also redefine the existence of superstructures, trade and economy, which altogether help to brand the Harappan Civilization as a literate society.

Of the writing systems of the ancient world which still await deciphering, the Indus script is the most important. It developed in the Indus or Harappan Civilization, which flourished c. 2500-1900 BC in and around modern Pakistan, collapsing before the earliest historical records of South Asia were composed. Nearly 4,000 samples of the writing survive, mainly on stamp seals and amulets, but no translations. Professor Parpola is the chief editor of the Corpus of Indus Seals and Inscriptions. His ideas about the script, the linguistic affinity of the Harappan language, and the nature of the Indus religion are informed by a remarkable command of Aryan, Dravidian, and Mesopotamian sources, archaeological materials, and linguistic methodology. His fascinating study confirms that the Indus script was logo-syllabic, and that the Indus language belonged to the Dravidian family.

"The CISI series publishes for researchers the sealing and inscription materials of the current Indus culture (c. 2600–1900 BC), which flourished in Pakistan and northwestern India, as completely as possible and in the highest quality images possible. The material systematically documented in the series lays the foundation for an up-to-date study of the writing, religion, and art history of the still poorly known Indus culture. The latest part of a long-running international publishing project brings readers access to seal and inscription finds from smaller excavation sites of Indus culture and its pre-stages."--

Scientists discover Y-DNA haplogroups O2a and mt-DNA haplogroup M4a in the Rakhigarhi ancient DNA. These haplogroups are associated with the speakers of Austro-Asiatic languages such as Mundari, Santali and Khasi. These haplogroups and related languages are also present in Southeast Asia. In India, speakers of these languages are currently found mostly in Central and East India. Even though a prominent philologist of Harvard University, Mr. Michael Witzel, has argued the case for a language close to Munda (which he calls para-Mundari) being one of the languages of the erstwhile Indus Valley, a finding of this nature will come as a surprise to most others. So if the genetics do find haplogroups O and M4a in Rakhigarhi, some of our current understanding of Indian history may have to be revised. Tony Joseph in The Hindu, December 23, 2017
