The Journey Continues

SRI M WAS BORN in Trivandrum Kerala in 1949. At the age of nine he had a strange encounter in the backyard of his house. Under the jackfruit tree he saw a matted-haired yogi. The yogi blessed him saying 'you will get to know our connection in time' and walked away. After this incident the mind of the young boy, born of Deccani Muslim parents, turned towards Vedanta and the great Indian tradition of yoga that led to deep contemplation. Meeting many known and unknown sages and yogis as if by design, Sri M at the age of 19 left home and went off to the Himalayas. There, at the Vyasa Guha beyond Badrinath, he met the great yogi Sri Maheshwaranath Babaji belonging to the Nath sampradaya. As an apprentice to this great being, his mind underwent a profound transformation. Travelling with this bare-footed yogi, he had many wonderful experiences. A detailed account of his almost unbelievable experiences from childhood to the present can be found in Sri M's autobiography, Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master: A yogi's Autobiography. On the instructions of his master, he returned to the plains and lived incognito for a long time. Meanwhile, he got married and has two children who are themselves grownup and married now. Sri M wears no grand robes, has no special hair style, is often found wearing jeans and T-shirt or dhothi and white shirt. He lives in Madanapalle, travels around the world conducting retreats and giving talks on yoga, Upanishads, Sufi teachings - in short, inner core of the religious traditions of most religions including the Jewish, the Christian, Buddhist and so on. He calls himself a practising yogi. Sri M heads the Satsang Foundation which runs the Satsang Vidyalaya - a free school for the underprivileged and an IIC-ICSC boarding school called Peepal Grove School, a rural school in a remote village 20 kms from Madanapalle and a Swasthya Kendra - a free medical service for the poor. The Satsang Foundation has recently initiated the MYTHRI programme involving large scale re-forestation and is in the process of setting up a modern hospital to cater to the needy on the outskirts of Bangalore.

In this tell-all autobiography, Sri M writes about his fascinating journey as a young man from the southern coast of India to the mystical Himalayan Mountains. At the age of nineteen and a half, he felt an irresistible urge to go to the Himalayas in quest for his great Master. He finally met his Master at the Vyasa Cave, beyond the Badrinath shrine. After spending three and half years with his Master, wandering freely across the length and breadth of the Himalayan ranges, he was instructed to go back to live in the plains and lead a normal life. He started working for a living, fulfilled his social commitments and prepared himself to teach others all that he had learned and experienced. This book reveals the spiritual journey of a young lad from Kerala, who by his sincerity and dedication evolved into a living yogi. Sri M shares his knowledge of the Upanishads and spiritual insights born out of first hand experiences in his autobiography. Let me introduce myself. My name is Larry Moffat, an American expatriate. In my mind, I think of myself as an adventurer, seeking excitement in an exotic foreign land, more precisely, in the Philippines. A few years earlier, this was a true assessment of my life. Presently, at thirty-nine years old, I find myself settled into the commonplace existence of a workaday and a married man with a wife and two small children. Although I am still in the Philippines, employed by the same worldwide engineering company—Richardson, Schellinberger, and Haas Inc. (RSHI)—my life has been altered under new circumstances. It was while with this firm that I found myself constantly involved with devious plots of miscreants that continually endangered my life. But in time, as my duties evolved with RSHI, I became more settled. I no longer am cast into intriguing events that characterized my life in earlier years. Even travel within the country has been curtailed by added demands on my time resulting from responsibilities as manager of RSHI’s regional office comprising all of Southeast Asia. This greatly limits my access to sources for adventure.

For those of you who have read The Journey, you met Todd Bradley and experienced his efforts to achieve improved plant reliability at ATPCo, his place of employment at the time. Todd, the management team, the union and all of the workers at the plant not only vastly improved equipment reliability, but they made the plant the most productive and reliable within the company. In fact, the plant was so productive that they were able to partner with another manufacturing firm to produce epsilon, a new product formed from tractium. This partnership, along with the reliability improvements that were made at the plant, ultimately saved the company from bankruptcy.The Journey Continues follows Todd to his next challenge. After he left his job at ATPCo, he took some time off only to be contacted by his old friend Pat, the former ATPCo plant manager now working as the Operations Manager at ADEE. Pat is searching for a new maintenance manager at his plant and, having worked successfully with Todd, has set his goal to bring Todd on board in that role.This is where The Journey Continues begins. The next chapter of Todd's life is far different than the one he led at ATPCo. The plant is not totally stuck in the "break it, fix it" maintenance mode Todd originally experienced at ATPCo, but it does have its own set of problems that hold it back from vastly improved performance. It's up to Todd, the other managers and his reliability team to overcome the barriers that exist and move the company forward. How that is accomplished is the story that Todd relates in this book.
