The goodness of creation, Original Sin, and the promise of a messiah are the starting points for this course, which explores our salvation through the Paschal Mystery. The students encounter the mystery and glory of the suffering, death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus Christ. The course also explores how the Paschal Mystery informs our daily lives, our prayer, and our participation in the life of the Church. The second edition of our popular Living In Christ series offers updated navigation, organizing and synchronizing curriculum across both teacher guides and student books. The student books have shifted from a section-part-article structure to a unit-chapter-article structure where sections become units and a part is now a chapter.

As Pope St. John Paul II made clear in his apostolic exhortation Catechesi Tradendae, "The definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ." The Formed in Christ series seeks to fulfill this call, fostering intimacy with Christ through its dynamic content. Each of the texts is complemented by a comprehensive workbook designed to provide instructors with test material and direction for enhancing students' grasp of the material. Each workbook includes: review and discussion questions, short quizzes (True/False, Fill in the Blank, Multiple Choice), key terms to define and spark note taking, essay prompts, scripture passage to memorize, a final exam, an answer key in the back for instructors. In That You Might Have Life, the course of study will unpack God's plan for humanity from "the beginning," and how that plan was revealed after man's fall from grace. It will chronicle God's covenant with Israel and the words of the prophets until it reached its fulfillment in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Lastly, it will examine how each of us enter into that plan through a life of discipleship

Death and dying are inseparably linked with life. They are self-evident and at the same time cannot be grasped by reason alone - they are ordinary, and yet so incredible. In these meditations, the acclaimed theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar investigates this great mystery. He asks about the contradiction, inherent in all men, of wishing to achieve something "imperishable in transitoriness" and gives an answer culled from the Scriptures and from the Church Fathers. In looking at this contradiction that appears to be irreconcilable from a purely human perspective, Balthasar tries to find something in the human existence that the Christian solution can take up, for if there was nothing, one would not see how Christianity could connect to our existence at all. This starting-point becomes fully visible and effective only when the Christian interpretation itself becomes evident, otherwise it remains open to dangerous misinterpretations. The emphasis lies in the word "mystery." The reader must meditate on these profound ideas which are demanding both in language and contents - then the reading will inspire him with insights and prospects that will, while not resolving the paradox "that everything earthly is inscribed on the sand of transitoriness," will anchor it in the Christian faith, which claims that man is eternal and that God himself became man in the person of Jesus Christ to help us attain to that eternal life.

More than two billion people in the world claim some sort of relationship to Christianity. Despite the wide diversity represented in the New Testament literature and the wide diversity of practice, there is a basic gospel and proclamation that even ante-dates the written texts of the New Testament. As Paul expresses it I handed on to you, as of first importance, what I in turn had received that Christ died for our sins. in accordance with the scriptures and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim, and so you have come to believe. (1 Cor 15:1-4, 11). This book provides the basic texts (with references to parallel texts) of this basic message together with reflections and prayers. In addition, there are reflections taken from the Fathers of the Church, which provide material for reflection and new insights into the Paschal Mystery. May those who read this book, praying and meditating on its message, be empowered to return to the simplicity of the original message - the gospel received the gospel handed over the gospel which you received and in which you stand, as will generations of Christians to come.
