Het essay is als volgt gestructureerd: op deze inleiding, welke overzicht van de inhoud van het essay, onderwerp, probleemstelling en de individuele/maatschappelijke relevantie schetst volgt een kritische behandeling van de gebruikte methoden, een samenvatting van de empirische bevindingen, een behandeling van kritiek op het boek “ The Political Influence of Global NGOs ” van Rob Reinalda, een vergelijking met andere theorieën en benaderingen (waaronder een scriptie over de politieke invloed van NGOs op IMF-hervormingen), een evaluatie en ten slotte de conclusie. Als informatiebronnen zou ik naast het boek zelf ,artikelen uit kranten, internet, boekrecensies, de scriptie en andere relevante (studie)literatuur gebruiken, welke in de bronnenlijst vermeld staan. Als onderwerp heb ik voor het boek “ The Political Influence of Global NGOs ” gekozen, waar de auteur, Bas Arts, tracht na te gaan in hoeverre NGOs belangrijke politieke actoren zijn. Om de invloed te ‘meten’ analyseert Arts in het kader van een multiple gevalsstudie de mate van NGO- inspraak op de formulering en implementatie van de UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC), en de United Nations Environment Programme`s Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in de periode van 1990 – 1995.
