The role of a Property Manager is a varied one. It can be managing holiday homes in various parts of the world that are attractive to tourists, it can be the management and administration of a collection of properties in a development, or it can simply be a person living next door to someone's weekend holiday home. The person fitting the role could be someone operating a business with a high degree of responsibility through to a neighbour holding a key purely in case of emergencies. This guide is aimed at the former and at my role as Property Manager looking after holiday homes in the South of France. If you are thinking of working for yourself and in France then this guide will most definitely be of help even if you are thinking of a different role. If you want to be a Property Manager in a different country then I am confident there will still be information of value although the people, the culture and the consequences of actions are all based around living and working in France and cultural differences will naturally apply. There are tips on handling bureaucrats, how to create a business, the day to day role and how to close a business. Many of the holiday homes were rented out as a source of income and details are provided on how to manage rentals and the associated documentation. I was often contacted about selling one of my client's homes or helping tourists to buy a home so reference is also made to this function. You will find a wide selection of real stories that occurred at the many properties and these are interspersed with practical advice. The Property Manager wears many hats!

What is it about this vibrant woman and her sweet son that knocks his world off-kilter? He knows they’re leaving town after Christmas. He just didn’t expect they’d be taking a little of his heart with them. But as he and Abby work together on the magical Holiday House through the record cold weather, visions of a different future dance in his head…one filled with warmth, love and a new beginning for them both. Tourism gentrification is a critical shaping force of socio-economic and contemporary urban landscapes. This book aims to be the first substantive text on this subject, explaining the multiple and complex relationships between tourism and gentrification and their outcomes and manifestations in contemporary metropolises. This is achieved by drawing on in-depth case analyses addressing the different issues at stake. Part I deals with the manifestations of tourism gentrification and the ways it affects urban landscapes through heritagization and urban regeneration strategies. Part II looks at the correlations between tourism gentrification and culture. Finally, the last two parts aim to identify and examine forms and expressions of tourism gentrification, distinguishing among the actors, beneficiaries, and victims of the phenomenon while looking at its implications for intra-metropolitan territories and metropolitan governance. The book approaches these issues in an innovative way, by looking at a variety of metropolises in a diverse range of countries and by dealing with the different relations and management issues generated by gentrification in relation to tourism. Through interdisciplinary approaches, this groundbreaking text sheds light on the role tourism plays in contemporary metropolises, furthering knowledge of urban tourism. For these reasons, it will be of particular interest to scholars and students of tourism, urban studies, geography, anthropology and sociology.
