This book shows how easy it is to live as a child of the Most High God! It has nothing to do with any type of religion or tradition of men, but it is the true word of God. His simple plan or purpose to redeem man from hell. Man was incapable of delivering himself so God made all the provisions. Man has only to accept that which was done on his behalf at calvary. Under the law it was do and live, but now under grace it’s believe and live. Jesus has already finished the work in fulfilling the law that was against us. He made the way so we may walk therein and live. Acts 8:37…And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Romans 10:9-10…That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The purpose of this book is to simply exhibit Christ and Him crucified as the only hope for our lost world. Paul tells those at Corinth, he "speaks the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the world unto our glory. Which none of the princes knew; for had they know it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory." To those at Rome he says, it is "the mystery which was kept secret since the world began; but is now, made manifest by the scriptures of the prophets." Struct blind on the road to Damascus, Saul returns from the desert, as the new man Paul. He tells the believers at Colossae: "Whereof, I am made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given to me for you, to fufil the word of God; even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints." The mystery, which Paul reveals wihin his letters, is the key to understanding every story, every parable, and the intent of God's every intervention into the lives of men. Those letters entice believers to search for the "mystery of his will;" no longer hidden, they now reveal the "mystery of godliness." In 1570, at the request of Edmund Grindal, Bishop of London, John Foxe preached a sermon at Paul's Cross, which was an open-air pulpit {on the grounds of St. Paul's Cathedral} of mostly timber with room for 3 or 4 inside it, set on stone steps with a lead-covered roof and a low surrounding wall. From here was preached much of the English Reformation, with sermons preached here usually printed and thus redistributed to a wider audience. This lofty exposition of the Protestant doctrine of redemption and attack on the doctrinal errors of the Papist Church was enlarged and published that year as A Sermon of Christ Crucified. "To know the crucified sacrifice of Christ's body to be a perfect deliverance of all his people, to be a full satisfaction once, and for ever, for all our sins - to be a free justification, redemption, and righteousness before God for ever, to all them that believe in him, without any other means or help adjoined to him - this is to know Christ Jesus crucified."
