What is intrinsic value? What is the origin of value? Are people always superior to nature? This book is a philosophical analysis of the human relationship to the non-human world. It is a pioneering study of the philosophy of nature-conservation in relation to the discussion of intrinsic value. Vilkka develops a naturalistic or naturocentric theory of value that is based on ethical extensionism and pluralism. Vilkka analyzes natural values and environmental attitudes: zoocentrism, biocentrism, and ecocentrism. This book forms a taxonomy for nature having intrinsic value. The theory of intrinsic value is based on naturocentric and naturogenic values. The book questions the thesis of weak anthropocentrism that denies the existence of naturogenic values. In Vilkka's theory, animals and nature are the origin of value. She defends the existence of zoogenic and biogenic values in the non-human world and discusses the possibility of ecogenic value, nature as a whole having value independent of human or animal minds. Vilkka analyzes the goodness and rights of nature, the problem of priorities, and ecological humanism. A naturocentric recommendation is that the well-being of animals and nature should have priority over human values at least in some real decision contexts. Ecological humanism recommends an attitude of respect for people, animals, and nature. The book includes an extensive glossary, index, and bibliography.

THERE IS AN UNSPOKEN WORD IN CHRISTIANITY THAT WORD IS INTIMACY! Deep inside every true child of God is a desire to know Him intimately. Intimacy with God is seldom experienced by Gods people because it is not talked about, we dont know what it is, and we dont know how to obtain it. Do you have a hunger in your soul for a deeper experience of God? Has your search for such an experience often led to frustration and more questions? WHEN GOODNESS FINDS YOU invites you to live a life of intimacy with God. RETURN TO A LIFE OF INNOCENCE. FIND THE KIND OF RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD YOU WERE DESIGNED TO ENJOY. DISCOVER INTIMACY IN SIMPLE WAYS. IGNITE THE FIRE IN YOUR SOUL BY TAKING THE STEPS OF A CHILD. FIND OUT HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF FOR GODS GOODNESS TO FIND YOU. Intimacy with God isnt a topic that can be written about from a merely academic perspective. Scott Boucher communicates that with an ease and candor that can only come through a man who writes from experience. If you want the often-misunderstood concept of intimacy with God to come alive, do yourself a favor and read this book. Shawn Hennessy, lead pastor, Life Church, Green Bay, WI I highly recommend this book; it is birthed out of many years of Scotts experience. Rev. Arni Jacobson, international director of leadership, Grace International For those who have not yet experienced the pleasure and joy of partaking of the Lord in this way, you are in for the treat of your life. I believe this is the most important aspect of our Christian faith, and sadly, the most missed experience for those who call themselves Christian. You are holding the author's notes on the book of Genesis as he has taught it for more than fifteen years on succeeding Sabbaths and on various venues, both "brick and mortar" and online. Some men have made a mess of what Elohenu (our God) revealed to the patriarchs and prophets, both Old and New Testaments, translating it with the biases of their rabbis or pastors or denominations. Mark is attempting (he even succeeds once in a while) to understand it and teach it as close to El's [God's] original intent as he can get by eliminating those doctrinal biases. (For instance, "God nailed the Law to the cross." There were exactly two things nailed to the Roman torture stake. What were they? Hint: One was Yeshua or Jesus. Matthew 27:37, Mark 15:26, Luke 23:38, John 19:19-look these up and then think.) If that teaser intrigues you, see what Moshe [Moses] has to say in Genesis. There's a lot more than just what's written on the page.
