Theoretical Aspects Of Computing Ictac 2005

This volume contains the proceedings of ICTAC 2005, the second ICTAC, International Colloquium on Theoretical Aspects of Computing. ICTAC 2005 took place in Hanoi, Vietnam, October 17–21, 2005. ICTAC was founded by the International Institute for Software Technology of the United Nations University (UNU-IIST) to serve as a forum for practiti- ers, lecturers and researchers from academia, industry and government who are interested in theoretical aspects of computing and rigorous approaches to so- ware engineering. The colloquium is aimed particularly, but not exclusively, at participants from developing countries. We believe that this will help developing countries to strengthen their research, teaching and development in computer science and engineering, improve the links between developing countries and developed countries, and establish collaboration in research and education. By providingavenueforthediscussionofcommonproblemsandtheirsolutions,and for the exchangeof experiencesand ideas,this colloquiumsupportsresearchand development in computer science and software technology. ICTAC is attracting more and more attention from more and more countries.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Colloquium on Theoretical Aspects of Computing, ICTAC 2005 held in Hanoi, Vietnam, in October 2005. The 35 revised full papers presented together with 5 invited talks and a summary of 5 tutorials were carefully reviewed and selected from 122 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on formal languages, computer science logics, program construction, real-time systems, concurrency and refinement, software security, quantitative logics, object-orientation and component systems, model-checking and algorithms, and applied logics and computing theory.

Research on theoretical aspects of computing has a direct impact on the pr- tice of computer systems development. Over many decades, fundamental t- ories have emerged to describe functionality, temporal behavior and resource consumption. Theories of application domains are beginning to be exploited for modelling and analyzing intended computing systems before the expensive c- mitment is made to real programs and hardware. Recent years have seen major improvements in the cost-e?ectiveness of tools supporting the exploitation of theories through proof, model-checking and testing. Against this encouraging background, we are pleased to present papers that show something of the live- ness and diversity of research in theoretical aspects of computing today. ICTAC 2008, the 5th International Colloquium on Theoretical Aspects of Computing, was held on 1-3 September 2008 in Istanbul, Turkey, hosted by - banc? University. The ICTAC series was founded by the International Institute for SoftwareTechnologyof the United Nations University(UNU-IIST). It brings together practitioners and researchers from academia, industry and government to present results and to exchange ideas and experience addressing challenges in both theoretical aspects of computing and in the exploitation of theory through methodsandtoolsforsystemdevelopment. Theseriesalsopromotescooperation in research and education between participants and their institutions, from - veloping and industrial countries, in accordance with the mandate of the United Nations University. The previous ICTAC colloquia were held in Guiyang, China (2004, LNCS 3407), Hanoi, Vietnam (2005, LNCS 3722), Tunis, Tunisia (2006, LNCS 4281) and Macau SAR, China (2007, LNCS 4711).

The ICTAC series was founded by the International Institute for Software Technology of the United Nations University (UNU-IIST). It brings together practitionersandresearchersfromacademia,industryandgovernmenttopresent results and to exchange ideas and experience addressing challenges in both t- oretical aspects of computing and in the exploitation of theory through me- ods and tools for system development. The series also promotes cooperation in research and education between participants and their institutions, from dev- oping and industrial countries, in accordance with the mandate of the United Nations University. The previous ICTAC colloquia were held in Guiyang, China (2004, LNCS 3407), Hanoi, Vietnam (2005, LNCS 3722), Tunis, Tunisia (2006, LNCS 4281), Macao SAR, China (2007, LNCS 4711), and Istanbul, Turkey (2008, LNCS 5160). This year, 81 submissions were received, distributed over 70 full research papers and 11 tool papers. Each submission was reviewed by at least three P- gram Committee members. We thank the members of the Program Committee and the other specialist referees for the e?ort and skill that they invested in the review and selection process, which was managed using EasyChair. The C- mittee decided to accept 20 papers: 17 full research papers and 3 tool papers.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed postproceedings of the First International Colloquium on Theoretical Aspects of Computing, ICTAC 2004. The 34 revised full papers presented together with 4 invited contributions were carefully selected from 111 submissions during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. The papers are organized in topical sections on concurrent and distributed systems, model integration and theory unification, program reasoning and testing, verification, theories of programming and programming languages, real-time and co-design, and automata theory and logics.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Colloquium on Theoretical Aspects of Computing, ICTAC 2012 held in Bangalore, India, in September 2012. The 16 revised full papers presented together with the abstracts of three keynote talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 73 submissions. The papers cover various topics related to both theoretical aspects of computing and the exploitation of theory through methods and tools for system development.
