Designed for use by parents and child therapists, this book provides a medium and context in which to raise and explore the ultimate existential concerns of isolation, death, meaninglessness, and freedom (and associated responsibility). "While maintaining a simple and easy narrative, the story of the Rock and Tree is an imaginative journey into profound questions of existence." Dr Jane Power Extract: The rock suddenly knew that the only way to save the sapling he loved was to roll into the river in front of it, thus redirecting the flow of water. So that was what he did.

Sebald, and Gerhard Richter make appearances around the central figure of William Wordsworth as Jacobus explores trees, rocks, clouds, and sleep in their work.

In this time of ecological crisis, all that is holy calls us into a more intimate partnership with the diverse and beautiful beings of this earth. In Finding Our Way Home, Myke Johnson reflects on her personal journey into such a partnership and offers a guide for others to begin this path. Lyrically expressed, it weaves together lessons from a chamomile flower, a small bird, a copper beech tree, a garden slug, and a forest fern, along with insights from Indigenous philosophy, environmental science, fractal geometry, childhood Catholic mysticism, the prophet Elijah, fairy tales, and permaculture design. This eco-spiritual journey also wrestles with the history of our society's destruction of the natural world, and its roots in the original theft of the land from Indigenous peoples. Exploring the spiritual dimensions of our brokenness, it offers tools to create healing. Finding Our Way Home is a ceremony to remember our essential unity with all of life.

In an old growth forest, located in south central Indiana, stands a stately oak tree alongside a meandering brook named Plumb Creek. In the upper branches of this tree is a sizable rock estimated to be in the 500-pound range. How this terrestrial interloper defied gravity and got stuck up in a tree no one knows. One thing is known for sure, rocks don't belong in the tops of trees, they belong on the ground with their brother and sister rocks. This rock in the top of a tree has suggested a metaphor about the human condition of people who also find themselves in places where they shouldn't be. These out-of-place people can best be described as contrarians who consider themselves to be sovereign individuals. Rocks in Trees tells a story about Thaddeus Jones, a guy who always questions why things are the way they are, and his one friend in the world, Roger Barnabas, best known as Rajah. The two young contrarians undertake a Quixotic mission to rid sovereign mankind from freedom-smothering government that then can result in a utopic commonwealth of man.
