Treestand Chatter invites you to head out with the author to his treestand. Though the treestand is typically used for archery hunts for whitetail deer, it is so much more than that. The more hours spent gawking at all that makes up nature itself leaves one in awe, appreciation, and worship of the God of the Word unfolded before your very eyes. Chatter can refer to your inner thoughts, your prayers, the fowl speech of geese, turkeys, chickadees, eagles, hawks, owls, and more. Accompanied by a number of good books is his pocket-size New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs. Along with a cell phone that's useful for searching the Internet, you and the author can be mesmerized by these written chatter forms while seated safely and comfortably in your secure treestand. Noticeably, chatter can also refer to the grunts, hisses, mews, bleats, and bugles of those who call the forest floor home. God speaks to us in parables, metaphors, and analogies, and Treestand Chatter is a myriad of analogies transcending from the obvious to the very height and glory of our creator's design and intent. One definition of intelligence is, "the ability to make an analogy." The Lord Jesus teaches effectively through His profuse use of metaphors, symbols, similes, analogies, and parables to elevate us from what we already understand to the heights and goals of what He yet desires for us to understand. From the proboscis of an annoying mosquito to the perfection of some critter's camo, to the traits and habits that are on constant display, it's breathtaking! Far more often than not, you leave the treestand without a harvest of venison but never without a captivated memory bank of sights, smells, and sounds. The author is deeply stirred by precious hours spent in this elevated perch undetected by the panoply of passers-by. Your invitation includes a vicarious pondering of all things nature with the author...and with Author and Creator God. Come on in, climb on up! 92

Sproul's sermons at St. Andrew's Chapel are the foundation of these never-before-published expositions on Paul's epistle to the Romans. Chrysostom had it read aloud to him once a week. Augustine, Luther, and Wesley all came to assured faith through its impact. The Reformers saw it as the God-given key to understanding the whole of Scripture. Throughout church history the study of the book of Romans has been pivotal to understanding Christian life and doctrine. Convinced that "Paul's fullest, grandest, most comprehensive statement of the gospel" is just as vital today, R. C. Sproul delivered nearly sixty sermons on Romans from October 2005 to April 2007 at St. Andrew's Chapel, where he has pastored for more than a decade. These never-before-published, passage-by-passage expositions will enrich any study of this weighty epistle. Part of the St. Andrew's Expositional Commentaries series.

Harold "Bud" L. Holste developed from a boy who loved to watch wildlife, fishing, and hunting, to a wildlife enforcement officer with a thirty-one-and-a-half-year career protecting the fish and wildlife resources of our country. Bud started hunting small game by trial and error and self-taught methods as a teenager in Illinois and continued hunting game birds, turkey, big game, and varmints after getting a driver's license and car as a young adult in Ohio. Bud also hunted big game in Alaska, Canada, Idaho, Michigan, Montana, Utah, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wyoming. Bud pursued antelope, black and brown Bear, caribou, deer, Dall sheep, elk, and mountain goat with family, friends, and sometimes by himself, with a high success rate, for sixty-five years, in all kinds of weather, in different habitats in North America. Shooting critters and pests that ate and destroyed the farmers' and ranchers' crops and hay is an enjoyable pastime for Bud. Bud left his footprints frozen in the ice on the Lake George glacier hunting mountain goat, in a mineral lick hunting Dall sheep, in the Cinder River sand hunting brown bear, and at the Nankoweap ruins in the Grand Canyon. Bud almost drowned as a teenager but chose a hobby that led to his rafting nineteen wild and scenic white water rivers for over two thousand miles, for the camping, fishing, and thrills and spills in Alaska, Canada, Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Chile, South America. Bud only had to swim three class V rapids and lived to tell about it. Camping in the great outdoors in tent, truck, trailer, and cabin enabled Bud to endure all Mother Nature could dish out. Bud didn't always take the easiest, shortest, or most direct path to see what was over the next ridge, but left his footprints in some of those places, not to disfigure or destroy, only because he couldn't pick them up after exploring and marveling at the beauty of all the plants, flowers, trees, animals, birds, fish, and wild creatures living on this earth and in the sea. These stories and events told here are true, as Bud recorded his thoughts at the time so others could enjoy the tales of those experiences. Read them and maybe you, too, can imagine leaving your footprint in some of those very same places. Bud always tried to leave enough of a trail for others to follow.
