It is a true story of identical twin boys who are now deceased. This story takes place solely in the city of St. Louis, Missouri. It is a story about brothers who grew up out of the tense and racially segregated times of the fifties through the seventies. They were born in a time when great changes were taking place. It was the year 1945, and the closing of that great and awful war. For some, it was a time of great joy. "Victory!" the headlines read, but for whom? It was a time of great abundance and plenty for some, but for others, there was a severe scarcity of even the basics such as jobs, food, clothing, housing, and healthcare. It was a time of "do or die." It was a time of "have and have-nots" and "by any means necessary." These were the times in which the twins came through. It is a story of their audacious boldness to survive in a time of scarcity. These are my recollections and reminiscence of the history of my brothers Leo and Leon Wright. It is also the reminiscing of their mother Olivia Boyd, their brother Ezell Wright, a host of relatives, and those few who considered them friends. All dates and instances are true to the best of our knowledge and of the people herein""all who had the pleasure or the horror of knowing "Twin."

The development of how twins relate to each other and their single partners is explored through life stories and clinical examples in this telling study of twin interconnections. While the quality of a nurturing family life is crucial, Dr. Klein has found there are often issues with separation anxiety, loneliness, competition with each other, and finding friendships outside of twinship. When twin lives are entwined because of inadequate parenting and estrangement, twin loss is possible and traumatic, creating a crippling fear of expansiveness—an inability to be yourself. Therapists and twins seeking an understanding of twin relationships will find this clinically compelling book a valuable resource.

Saul Diskins extraordinary memoir is rich with unique and wonderful intimacythe intimacy of twinship. For me this made that closest of bonds come alive in a way no other book Ive read has succeeded in doing. Diskin makes one feel like a twin, see the world through a twins eyes, suffer with him in a way that is at times almost unbearably close and poignant. One becomes immersed in the life and death struggle. The medical detail is wonderfully well-done, as are all the relationships. The peculiar and overwhelming nature of twinship is brought out in a way thats both uncannily spirited and wholly down-to-earth; completely unsentimental. The reader participates at every point and on every page in an intimacy that he knows only death can end. JOHN BAYLEY, author of Elegy for Iris "...you have captured the essence of the twin relationship more eloquently than anyone else I have ever read." Nancy Segal, author of Entwined Lives, Indivisible by Two and Someone Else's Twin. What is it like to lose your mirror-image, your other half, your secret sharer? The End of the Twins is an arresting memoir that evokes the mysteries of twinship and the irrevocability of loss. ERICA JONG, author of Fear of Flying and Becoming Light A moving account of a unique bereavement from which we can all learn about love and loss. HAROLD S. KUSHNER, author of When Bad Things Happen to Good People
