Learn how to "unravel the lie-knot!" All of us are products of our upbringing and experiences, and, whether we realize it or not, have come to believe things that aren't actually true. Those false beliefs hold us back. They are like recordings that constantly play in our minds, condemning us, accusing us, shaming us, and blaming us. Is it possible to silence these thoughts in our heads that have tied us in knots for so long? Can we ever find peace? Yes! The Bible promises we can be transformed by renewing our minds. In Unraveling the Lie-Knot, Sheryl Giesbrecht Turner offers encouragement and hope for those who are ready to search out the truth in the Bible. She equips you with practical ways to uncover and dispel lies, even those you may have believed since childhood. She shows how, with the Holy Spirit's help, you really can untangle knots of deception, discover the lies behind fears, dispel depression, and defeat the effects of trauma. Discover how to identify and unravel the lie-knots so that you can move forward and become a fruitful disciple of Jesus!

The group of concordance classes of high dimensional homotopy spheres knotted in codimension two in the standard sphere has an intricate algebraic structure which this paper unravels. The first level of invariants is given by the classical Alexander polynomial. By means of a transfer construction, the integral Seifert matrices of knots whose Alexander polynomial is a power of a fixed irreducible polynomial are related to forms with the appropriate Hermitian symmetry on torsion free modules over an order in the algebraic number field determined by the Alexander polynomial. This group is then explicitly computed in terms of standard arithmetic invariants. In the symmetric case, this computation shows there are no elements of order four with an irreducible Alexander polynomial. Furthermore, the order is not necessarily Dedekind and non-projective modules can occur. The second level of invariants is given by constructing an exact sequence relating the global concordance group to the individual pieces described above. The integral concordance group is then computed by a localization exact sequence relating it to the rational group computed by J. Levine and a group of torsion linking forms.

Fictions of Enlightenment is the first book to examine the fascinating and intricate relationship between Buddhism and the development of Chinese vernacular fiction. Qiancheng Li brings Buddhist models to bear on the vision, structure, and narrative form of three classics of late imperial literature—Journey to the West, Tower of Myriad Mirrors, and Dream of the Red Chamber—arguing that by fashioning their plots after the narratives of certain Mahāyāna sutras, the novelists transformed Buddhist concepts into narrative structures. Within the traditional Chinese novel Li even defines a new genre: the fiction of enlightenment.

What happens when one harrowing incident changes your life, splitting it between before and after? On the fourth day of what Lara Naughton thought would be two weeks of bliss in Belize, she was kidnapped and assaulted by a man pretending to be a cabdriver. Held in the depths of the tropical forest—alone with the jaguar Man—she found that compassion was her only defense. Lara’s survival and journey of healing is poignant, compelling, and exceptional. Bending the limits of reality, she uses myth to process her experience. As Lara seeks a new understanding of herself, her lyrical, haunting prose reveals a belief that there is room for compassion—for self and and others—even in the midst of violence. Lara Naughton is an author and documentary playwright. Her work includes Never Fight a Shark in the Water: The Wrongful Conviction of Gregory Bright. She is a certified Compassion Cultivation Trainer through The Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) at Stanford University School of Medicine. She lives and teaches in New Orleans.
