I began the study of the subject of Christ's second coming and the end times in detail with much prayer and study. I must say that I have been intrigued with the book of Revelation for years. Through those years I have been rotating from position to position in reference to pre-trib, mid-trib and post-tribulation. As I would read various scriptures, they would seem to contradict each other and point to a specific, yet different time for the return of Christ on the clouds to gather His saints. Perhaps you, too, have been confused about the timing of the second coming of Jesus and the end times. Maybe you, too, have changed your position a few times depending on the various scriptures you happen to be reading at the time. Or, is there a chance that you hold a particular position, but if pressed to support it, welllll In addition to our own confusions and variations, there are the traditional beliefs and doctrines within the various churches that differ as much as the churches themselves. I have asked questions to pastors, deacons, Sunday School teachers and other faithful saints and have received widely differing opinions about this subject. There were none who could entirely support their positions with scriptures that did not conflict with their own opinions. The usual final response from all I have spoken with goes somewhat like this: ""Well, these things are just not meant to be understood at this time."" UNTIL NOW, at least for me. Being a Christian in America doesn’t require much these days. Suburban megachurches are more like entertainment venues than places to worship God. The lives that American “Christians” lead aren’t much different from those of their atheist neighbors, and their knowledge of theology isn’t much better either. Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire exposes the pitiful state of Christianity in America today, lays out the stakes for us, our families, and our eternal salvation, and invites us to a faith that’s a lot less easy and comfortable—but that’s more real and actually worth something. The spiritual junk food we’re stuffing ourselves with is never going to satisfy. As St. Augustine said over a millennium ago, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him. Only God Himself can make our lives anything but ultimately meaningless and empty. And we will never get anywhere near Him if we refuse to take up our cross and follow Jesus.
