It addresses real-life issues in managing a non-peer-based relationship and how to actually make it work, and work well. Sissies are a growing part of society and within the ABDL community, the sissy baby is relatively common. But spouses, partners and friends tend to be dismissive or even scared of sissy babies. This book will open their eyes so if nothing else, they will no longer be ignorant of who they are. Both the 'parents' of sissy babies and the sissies themselves will love this book and the intuitive and valuable guidance in the insight it provides.

True incidents and memories from the viewpoint of the author, as a small girl in North Missouri, on a farm, along with her brothers and the influence her parents and grandparents played in their lives. All ages will enjoy reading the interactions of Budgie and Sissy as they struggle with decisions and lessons learned and react to each situation only as children can. The stories took place during the Depression and drought in the 1930s. The author is the only living member of her family mentioned in these pages and would not have had the courage to write these words as she remembers them, if they were here looking over her shoulder. She was very shy as a child and would have been embarrassed to have her family know her true feelings. This book expresses her love as a child for her family and the love she feels now as an adult when they are in her memories.

In Sissy Insurgencies Marlon B. Ross focuses on the figure of the sissy in order to rethink how Americans have imagined, articulated, and negotiated manhood and boyhood from the 1880s to the present. Rather than collapsing sissiness into homosexuality, Ross shows how sissiness constitutes a historically fluid range of gender practices that are expressed as a physical manifestation, discursive epithet, social identity, and political phenomenon. He reconsiders several black leaders, intellectuals, musicians, and athletes within the context of sissiness, from Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver, and James Baldwin to Little Richard, Amiri Baraka, and Wilt Chamberlain. Whether examining Washington’s practice of cleaning as an iteration of sissiness, Baldwin’s self-fashioned sissy deportment, or sissiphobia in professional sports and black nationalism, Ross demonstrates that sissiness can be embraced and exploited to conform to American gender norms or disrupt racialized patriarchy. In this way, sissiness constitutes a central element in modern understandings of race and gender.
